Wikimedia Small Projects

This report annual of Wikimedia Small Projects covers from the second half of September until December of 2022 and of January until the first-half of September of 2023.

Message of the General Coordinator

It is the third year of the group's founding, but only two years have passed since the Wikimedia Foundation recognized our group.

There continues to be hard work, not only on my part but on the part of all the members of the group alike. They contribute, in their own way, the indispensable and necessary component for the group to emerge and move forward to empower the group for the benefit of the movement.

There is still a long way to learn, and in the period I have as General Coordinator I hope to use it wisely to nourish myself with the knowledge that other people can offer. The fundamental principles of the group have not changed and will not change; we will continue to move forward, listening to the voice of the volunteers who are an important and indispensable cog in the movement. We will continue to support small projects, both those of the Spanish language version as well as other versions that require our support.

Achieved goals

  • Growth of the group compared in anterior years,
  • Recognition of other affiliated Wikimedia to the group,
  • Events in set with other affiliated Wikimedia in profit of the small projects,
  • Partners interested in contributing to the free knowledge

Challenges to surpass

  • Understanding and alignment of the mission and vision of the group with the strategy of the movement 2030
  • Search for alternative sources of funding,
  • Understanding the new funding model of the Wikimedia Foundation
  • Establishment of a legal personality for the group,
  • Future of SuenaWiki as a space of movement for Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Greater unity and collaboration among members,
  • Increased focus on movement programming,
  • Diversity in activities directed towards Wikimedia projects,
  • To promote spaces of inclusion and security.
