Topics

[edit]
  • Potential funding source for climate change / Baltic Sea project
  • Märt posted a link to the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region as a potential funding source.
  • Applying for funds from them, or anywhere else for that matter, requires some sort of project design, and we're not there yet, but it's a funding source which is directly relevant to the topic.
  • Nicolás asked about whether 'museum nights' existed in the different countries, it exists in Estonia, Finland, Denmark and Latvia. A science related museum night might be a good launching point.
  • Any lists should be at least reviewed if not put together by people working with climate science.
  • Importance of involving stakeholders. If we have a list of articles its easier to involve people, especially those outside the movement.
  • Is there another type of date or event that we can connect it to?
  • Test run? Maybe choose 5 articles, make a call to relevant communities and see if there's actual interest in contributing?
  • If we're going to do a shorter list, we should actually get in touch with experts to have a solid basis to work off of.
  • Matthias will get the people who showed interest together in a Slack channel and either have articles selected by next meeting or at least some idea of people to contact for suggestions regarding article topics.
  • Museum Task Force ideas
  • Ivo would like one project idea per country. There's no hurry, but it would be great to have some small projects that can inspire further collaboration.
  • Basically think of projects where we can utilize each other.
  • Start small and slowly grow when we know who is actually interested and get things done.
  • Example project from Estonia: https://et.wikisource.org/wiki/Eesti_Loodusmuuseum/N%C3%A4itus/M%C3%BCstiline_%C3%BCrgmeri/ENG (if that gets translated and promoted, then it could serve as a good example to other Estonian museums)
  • What would be example projects from Finland, Denmark, etc? It would be great it those examples are also relevant in nearby countries.
  • Anyone who is interested should consider projects and relevant persons for next time.
  • Phabricator support group
  • Setting up a "Phabricator for dummies" page as a first point of entry for chapters/UGs who want to use Phabricator or just linking to already existing documentation. Maybe an overview from people who already use it and are well-versed at it.
  • Having a channel of communication with people who already know something about Phabricator for chapters/UGs
  • https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Help is a thing and some videos there might be useful, so we should make sure that's easy to find in the channel
  • Relevant people: Sebastian Berlin (WMSE developer, ask Axel to invite), Nicolás Tamargo & Märt Poder (WMEE, more beginner-level, but able to answer some questions)
  • Matthias will set up channel and get in touch with relevant people.
  • Misc.
  • A rephotography channel has been created (#rephoto), please join if you are interested in doing rephotography in your own country.
  • We should endeavour to have one person from each country joining each time.
  • We should emphazize that groups can use this meeting to ask for help with certain issues.
  • Next meeting is 3rd of December at 18:00 UTC.
