Wiki Loves Africa 2025

We organized the Wiki Loves Africa in the Niger Delta, were we trained over 30 volunteers in how to utilize wikicommons as a tool to preserve our cultures heritage, food and traditions. We had a photo walk to Songhai Farm, Buguma community and Greek road, in Port harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria.

In November, 2024, We Collaborated with the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND). We trained participants on how to leverage Wikimedia projects.

Welcome to Wiki-Niger Delta! Wiki-Niger Delta is an initiative of Team Initiative (TI) in partnership with Wikimedia User Group Nigeria where young people from the Niger-Delta region in Nigeria will be introduced to Wikipedia and its sister project as a means of digital skill empowerment and knowledge-sharing mechanism. The collaboration is designed to deploy a 2-day training for 30 delegates from any of the 9 states in the region with an ultimatum aim of establishing Wikimedia in each state to be anchored by some of the prospective participants of the event. The program will take place in Portharcourt on 29th and 30th of August

Team Initiative is a volunteer-driven organization based in Portharcourt, Rivers state, which seeks to employ citizen-led actions that inspire sustainable development in communities, is glad to inform the Wikimedia community in Nigeria of its collaboration.

The oil-rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria comprises of 9 states cut across the Edo, Rivers, Delta, Akwa-Ibom, Cross River, Imo, Abia and Ondo State. Nigeria is blessed with cultures and stories that can be told leveraging on Wikimedia tools and also to empower people through digital inclusion.
