  • Wikipedia ends the year with 64,205,698 articles in 348 languages (plus 5 language wikis with 0 articles), which constitutes a 3% increase in articles over the past year.
  • Wiktionary ends the year with 42,691,389 entries in 175 languages (plus 20 language wikis with 0 entries), a 13% increase in entries over the past year.
  • Wikiquote ends the year with 342,973 content pages in 83 languages (plus 14 language wikis with 0 content pages), a 9% increase in content pages over the past year.
  • Wikibooks ends the year with 386,345 book modules in 99 languages (plus 22 language wikis with 0 book modules), a 4% increase in book modules over the past year.
  • Wikisource ends the year with 6,298,419 text units in at least 216 languages (comprising 6,218,723 units in 79 individual language wikis and an additional 79,696 units in at least 149 languages at the Multiligual Wikisource — 12 languages are known to have content in both places), a 6% increase in text units over the past year.
  • Wikinews ends the year with 1,762,307 articles in 36 languages, a 0.7% increase in articles over the past year.
  • Wikiversity ends the year with 162,429 learning modules in 101 languages (comprising 158,780 modules in 17 separate language wikis and an additional 3,649 modules in 84 languages at Wikiversity Beta), a 7% increase in learning modules over the past year.
  • Wikivoyage ends the year with 139,931 articles in 26 languages, a 4% increase in articles over the past year.
  • Wikimedia Commons ends the year with 112,293,147 media files, a 13% increase over the past year.
  • Wikispecies ends the year with 898,324 content pages, a 4% increase over the past year.
  • Wikidata ends the year with 114,841,172 items, a 6% increase over the past year.
  • Wikimedia Incubator ends the year with 163,159 content pages across 1,365 test wikis in 954 different languages (including 45 test wikis that are currently empty), a 3% decrease in content pages and 4% increase in test wikis over the past year.
  • Wikifunctions ends the year with 12,323 functions, a 325% increase over the past year (the wiki was opened for public editing in August of last year).
  • There were 26 content wikis created in 2024 (14 Wikipedias, 3 Wiktionaries, 1 Wikiquote, 5 Wikisources, 1 Wikinews, and 2 Wikivoyages), 4 more than were created in 2023.
  • No content wikis were closed/locked in 2024.
Note: The article counts listed above are actual counts collected at around 00:03 UTC on 2025-01-01. All counts are based on what MediaWiki sees as constituting an article (or content page), as reflected at each wiki's Special:Statistics page. Language counts (which were collected at around 06:00 UTC on 2025-01-01) include closed, but not deleted, wikis and count "Simple English" as a separate language when such a wiki exists within a project. The language count at the Multilingual Wikisource is lower than it should be, because not all languages hosted there are tracked on the page used as a source for this summary.

  • Support for interlanguage linking to the newly created Mooré Wikipedia has been improved, with links of the form [[:mos:w:Title]] now working from the English non-Wikipedia projects (e.g., English Wiktionary, etc.). On the English Wikipedia, links still must go through Meta or another language or project (i.e., [[m:mos:Title]] works, as do [[:de:mos:Title]] and [[wikt:mos:w:Title]], but [[wikt:mos:Title]] fails because it tries to go to the non-existent Mooré Wiktionary).
  • The Central Bikol Wikisource is open for editing after being created as a separate wiki last week (at bcl.wikisource.org), with content imported today from the Multilingual Wikisource. (Since the wiki is new, things might not work quite right for the next few days or more.)
  • Five new Wikipedias are open for editing after having been fast-tracked through the wiki creation process, in a Language Committee experiment. (Since these are new—and especially since their creation process has been somewhat atypical—things might not yet work as expected on these wikis.)

Also, while the "mos:" prefix works at most other Wikimedia wikis to link to this new wiki, this is not the case at the English Wikipedia, where links of the form [[m:mos:…]] must be used instead — for example: m:mos:Soraogo.)
