Introduction

Wikimedia HELP University Society (WHUS) is a society created by a student from HELP University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It strives to promote free knowledge to society through the use of Wikimedia platforms such as Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wiktionary, etc especially among students from around the country.

This group will be centrally monitored by the main Wikimedia Community User Group Malaysia (WCUGM) movement who are in-charge in administering the content contributed to any of the Wikimedia platforms by any editors.

Vision

Our vision is to promote Wikimedia to society and encourage more contributions to the Malay and Malaysian Wikimedia pages while allowing our members to gain free knowledge while being in this movement. We also look to give opportunities for our members to unleash their creativity to host a project that is related to any Wikimedia locally and internationally.

Mission

Our mission is to make free knowledge available to all Malaysians through the usage and access of Wikimedia platforms. We also aim to spread awareness, educate, and enhance passion among students on the benefits of contributing to the Wikimedia platforms.

Objectives

• To promote Wikimedia Community User Group Malaysia (WCUGM) to society and receive support of volunteerism for any future projects.

• To encourage the public to understand Wikimedia's history, culture, and values to dispel any negative preconceptions or misunderstandings about the movement.

• To create a safe and supportive environment for volunteers to develop their skills, share their passion for freeing knowledge, and learn proper techniques in editing to minimize vandalism in Wikimedia platforms.

• To inspire members to embrace the values and philosophy of volunteering at Wikimedia and enhancing contributions by editing or creating articles beyond reading the existing articles only, and to recognize its potential for enhancing personal growth and well-being in all aspects of life.

• Organize and participate in Wikimedia competitions, events, projects, and demonstrations, both locally and internationally, in order to grow the passion to free knowledge and improve creativity and knowledge of society members and raise awareness about Wikimedia.
