البيان (لا يزيد عن 450 كلمة)
I joined Spanish Wikipedia in 2006, Spanish Wikinews three years later, and since then served as an admin, bureaucrat, and ombudsman. I joined the Wikimedia movement in 2010 when I started developing Wikimedia Mexico, which I founded and led as Chair until 2018. Under my leadership, Wikimedia México signed more than 20 agreements, conducted and managed +300 events (including the Guinness Record of Longest Editathon in 2016) and supported the development of new editions of Wikipedia in Languages of Mexico.
I've always been committed to the growth and development of the Wikimedia mission and regional affiliates in Latin America, being an active volunteer of the Iberocoop network. As a volunteer I always enjoy taking on new challenges with my community - we organized Iberoconf 2013 and in 2014 we decided to organize Wikimania 2015, where I was the coordinator as a WMF contractor.
Because of my interest in fostering diversity in the Movement I was part of the Diversity working group of the Wikimedia 2030 Strategy Process and volunteered on the Universal Code of Conduct Drafting Committee.
Professionally speaking, since 2016 I am a Human Rights Defender at one of the leading organizations in Latin America working at the intersection of technology and Human Rights. As an advocacy officer I’m involved in projects related to Privacy, Freedom of Expression, Misinformation, Access to Internet Net Neutrality, Indigenous Languages and Access to Knowledge. My daily work involves advocacy in government, legislative and corporate environments, Policy Writing with Human Rights perspective and Community Relations. I’m also the founder and manager of the Creative Commons chapter in Mexico since 2018, having been in charge of the revamping of the organization after the CC Strategy implementation.
My goals:
I advocate for diversity in the movement, especially by strengthening the development of underrepresented communities and guaranteeing that Wikimedia movement decision-making processes are built on inclusiveness, representation and diversity. I always worked on Wikimedia mission challenges from a different perspective living in a Global South country where still we have strong gaps.
I’m committed to keep the development of technology, tools and resources to improve the user experience in order to build welcoming environments both for long-term volunteers and newcomers. As a professional in Digital Security and Safety I am committed to ensure the improvement of safety and inclusion in our communities.
I am committed to supporting the implementation of Strategy 2030 aiming to have a more decentralized movement and a balance of power among all our existing bodies as committees, affiliates and WMF.

YES +3 years. I worked for 3 years at a large marketing and events company in Mexico that managed large US million budgets where I was in charge of the creative proposal of large-scale shows. I was also in charge of a Wikimania in my country, the largest meeting of our movement, an occasion in which I was able to work with the Wikimedia Foundation staff and other volunteers on many aspects, including the efficient spending of donor funds in all the subjects of the event. In my current job, although I do not handle large-scale budgets, I work with processes and methodologies that require executive and management skills typical of an organization that frequently works with international organizations.

YES +10 years. In my previous role as leader of Wikimedia México I was involved in the coordination of activities regarding GLAM, Education, Gender Gap, and other key movement topics. Regarding Public policy and law related work I have organized and supported resistance actions against different threats to the Wikimedia movement in my country and Latin America, such as SOPA’s local version, Ley Doring, or the recent Ni censura ni candados project in México. I also took part in the movement that fought to protect Net Neutrality in Mexico. In my professional work I have taken part in various events and discussions on policies having to do with internet and human rights, including experiences on the human rights approach with big tech companies. Building on that experience, I was invited to participate as part of the Universal Code of Conduct Drafting Committee, where I supported the incorporation of a Diversity and Human Rights framework.

YES. I am a racialized person in my country because of my skin color and because I belong to a lower social class, which is why I have had to work twice as hard as other people do. That is the reason why I am an advocate of public education, since it allowed me to be able to get a grade in History in a prestigious institution such as National Autonomous University of Mexico.
التنوع: جغرافيًا
قد يساهم المرشح في التنوع الجغرافي الإجمالي لمجلس الأمناء، استنادًا إلى المناطق الجغرافية التي قطن فيها.
YES. As I explained, I had to work from a very young age since my family comes from a low-mid class, so I never lived outside of Mexico, for example, to pursue an academic career. What I have learned over ten years of experience in the Wikimedia movement is to have an open spirit to meet and respect colleagues from all countries where Wikimedia exists. The movement has compensated for my lack of experience of living outside my country by consolidating links with many Wikimedians from around the world. I did this by having a permanent and sensitive sense of the way other people speak, feel and think. Of course I will continue to do so if I have the opportunity to serve on the Board.
التنوع: اللغة
المرشح لغته الأم هي لغة خلاف اللغة الإنكليزية.
Spanish is my native. ES (N); EN (3) NAH (1). I am also a frequent translator of Wikipedia articles to English, Catalan and Portuguese using automatic machines.
YES. I grew up in a country where there was no real democracy until 2000 due to the tyranny of a single party regime. Our democracy remains very weak, even in 2012 we suffered from large-scale electoral fraud. For that reason I have been an activist since 1999 when I actively joined a student movement at my university in defense of public education. From that date until now I have integrated a number of collectives, groups and social movements. Since 2017 I have been strongly involved in the defense of the Right to housing, an area in which I have worked on political strategy, communication and popular resistance with victims of the 2017 Puebla earthquake.
