На жаль, наше бажання, щоб до усіх знань людства мала доступ кожнісінька людина, інколи впирається в обмежувальні заходи урядових установ. І хоча причини й методи можуть відрізнятися у різних ситуаціях, Фонд Вікімедіа послідовно працює над тим, щоб ці обмеження було знято якнайшвидше.
В екстремальних ситуаціях, ці обмеження блокують доступ повністю або частково до Вікіпедії чи інших проектів Вікімедіа частин, у цілому регіоні чи країні. Відповідно до нашого прагнення розширювати доступ до вільних знань замість того, щоб обмежувати його, Фонд інколи займається кампаніям з підвищення обізнаності про ці блокування і намагається добитися їх зняття.
Фонд Вікімедіа запрошує спільноту та своїх прихильників приєднатися до цих кампаній.

On Wednesday, 15 January 2020, the Wikimedia Foundation started to receive reports that the block of Wikipedia in Turkey is being lifted, data which is also indicated by our internal traffic reports.

Overview
On Monday, July 22nd, the Wikimedia Foundation announced some exciting news about our case against Turkey’s block on Wikipedia that is before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). The Court has selected the case for priority status.
This means our case is moving forward more quickly in the Court. This is important because a decision in our case may help set a precedent for how information is shared online.
We would love to have the support of Wikimedia Foundation supporters in spreading the good news about this next step in our case, and more broadly, in reiterating the importance of supporting free knowledge around the world.
This toolkit contains social media captions and graphics to help you and your organization amplify this news. We hope you’ll do so today or in the coming days and weeks.

Туреччина — кампанія травня 2019
23 травня 2019 року Фонд Вікімедіа оголосив, що подає петицію до Європейського суду з прав людини (ЄСПЛ), міжнародного суду, що розглядає справи порушення прав людини у Європі, у намаганні зняти понад дворічне блокування Вікіпедії у Туреччині.
Ми запрошуємо афіліатів, спільноту та решту світу приєднатися до нас і підкреслити ключову основу цієї справи, «знання є правом людини», через кампанію у соціальних мережах.
Фокусом каналів у соціальних мережах під час кампанії буде поширення обізнаності про те, що Вікіпедія заблокована у Туреччині, й пояснення людям, чому ми подаємо у ЄСПЛ. Ми також працюватимемо над ширшим наративом, що «знання є правом людини», щоб було зрозуміло, що справа у Європейському суді з прав людини — це один з кроків, які треба зробити, щоб забезпечити, що Вікіпедія доступна для кожного.
