[edit]2023-05-03: Dozens of new Wikipedia articles on women in film have been created as part of this year's Women's Month
[edit]The ongoing project Women in Czech Film was created following an invitation to the seminar Women in Czech Film led by Tereza Czesany Dvořáková at the Department of Film Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. The work resulted in two dozen new articles, many expanded articles, and a number of original photographs. It is not only on Wikipedia that the focus is mostly on the stars who are most visible - actresses. But Wikipedia can be a place that gives space to the ladies "behind the curtain" as well. Check out the new blog article (in Czech) and read their inspiring stories.

2023-05-16: Workshop for students in Vodňany awakened their interest in their town
[edit]In February, a unique workshop for students took place at the Elementary School and Gymnasium in Vodňany, organised by the local Gelast Vodňanský Library. The aim of the workshop was to introduce them to how Wikipedia content is created and to try their hand at writing their own articles and uploading photos. What was the outcome of this unique event connecting pupils and students with their region? Many unique articles were created about Vodnjan's history and present. It is evident that only a small fraction of young people manage to awaken a passion for writing Wikipedia. Nevertheless, it is important that they gain an awareness that information on Wikipedia is not a given. Read the new article on our blog.

In the second workshop, held on 18 April 2023, academics edited Wikidata. The workshop focused on both manual editing and the more complex system of linking databases to Wikidata through OpenRefine or Mix'N'Match tools. In total, over 4000 Wikidata entries were edited. Find out more on our blog.
2023-05-25: Wikimedia CZ into new partnerships. This time it's Společně & Digitálně.
[edit]Wikimedia CZ has joined the platform of non-profit organizations for the digital transformation of state Společně & Digitálně. It has thus joined the founding members - prominent NGOs with an international reach - who support the idea of a citizen-oriented state. This idea corresponds to the advocacy activities of Wikimedia CZ in the GLAM area, where it has long supported the accessibility of information, the development of education and the promotion of sharing free content via, among others, advocacy towards the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, legislators and representatives of regional governments in the field of culture. Within the framework of Společně & Digitálně platform, we will strive for a coordinated approach in these areas and look forward to inspiring cooperation with experienced partners.
