I attended both Virtually for 4 days through PheedLoop, both the App and Web version, Youtube through the Wikimedia Foundation YouTube Channel, Zoom depending on sessions compartibility and In-person for one day at Capital Kitchen in Kampala, Uganda.
What did you spend the scholarship funds on?[edit]
The funds helpe me with Data, airtime, electricity purchase, paying for child care, earphones and meals
Takeaways – choose 3 specific Wikimania sessions you attended and describe your key take-aways per session.[edit]
Batch Uploads to Commons using OpenRefine Tool by Sandra[edit]
This tool is sure going to improve the time it takes for me to do batch uploads to Commons and the beauty with it is that it is a free tool, looking forward to interacting with it in the comming months.
A continental move: celebrating the African Librarians by Alice Kibombo[edit]
It was a great chance to be updated on the latest work done by Africans under the GLAM chapter through a collaboration with AfLIA, lots of encouraging projects especially on the 1Lib1Ref campaign. Africans especially in the Sub Sahara region are making vital contributions to Wikimedia and I will encourage more to join this global movement.
Global Dance Party by Elfiego[edit]
This was a great time to shake some bones and enjoy a global dance party, I partied with friends near and globally, the music in the 3 zoom braek away session was spoton. I am looking forward to this kind of session in the coming Wikimania 2023. It was a great session for networking and meeting with friends virtually.
How did you connect with other people during Wikimania 2022? How did you celebrate at Wikimania 2022?[edit]
I connected with colleagues mostly via social media channels such as Twitter, Telegram (especially the Wikimania Bot), WhatsApp through a group we created specifically for the usergroup Wikimania schorlaship winners however the greatest connection happened during the in-person event where we talked and exchanged ideas with other members of the usergroup and strategised together for the community at large. A few connections were made through the PheedLoop App however not as engaging as I would have loved.
