;How did you attend Wikimania (virtually or in-person)?
[edit]I attended Wikimania 2022 both virtually (Using Youtube, Pheedloop and Jitsi) and in-person. The in-person event was held at Capital Kitchen, Kampala- Uganda.
;What did you spend the scholarship funds on?
[edit]I spent the scholarship funds on Internet data bundles that enabled me to attend the different sessions, like and share social media posts; and communicate with other attendees. The funds also helped me with transport to the in-person event venue and I also got new headsets that allowed me to listen in, clearly, during all the sessions that I attended.
;Takeaways – choose 3 specific Wikimania sessions you attended and describe your key take-aways per session.
[edit]Digital Security Basics
[edit]This session opened my eyes to how certain practices such as saving one's password on devices can enable other people to easily access one's information. It taught me about how to keep my passwords safe and differentiate a website that is secure from one that is not. It also taught me the meaning of cookies and why they exist, this was something that I had never really understood before.
Writing Women into Wiki History: Experiences and Best Practices
[edit]I was thrilled to learn that Wikimedia is so passionate about bridging the gender gap and the representation of women. One of the ways they do this is by encouraging more women to edit and take part in the different wiki projects, even as organizers. This places more women in position to share about the female experience.
Growing WikiForHumanRights: Learning from a Global Topics for Impact Campaign
[edit]I learnt that this campaign is about ensuring that we all have access to neutral, fact-based and current information on topics about Right to Healthy environment by documenting stories and content in this area. What impressed me most about the campaign was that it reached out to over 700 participants and generated more than 4000 articles across 5 continents on the topics of Climate Change, Pollution and Biodiversity loss.
;How did you connect with other people during Wikimania 2022? How did you celebrate at Wikimania 2022?
[edit]My favorite part about the Wikimania2022 experience was getting to meet the Wikimedia User group Uganda. We connected via an exciting game using Kahoot; old members shared about their wikimedia experiences and for new members, such as myself, we were warmly welcomed and it made the entire experience worthwhile. I also connected with other people in different countries through the lobby on Pheedloop.
I really enjoyed the performances, and joining other people for the yoga dance party and the online games/trivia. At some point during the trivia, I was no. 4, and this really made my day!
Wikimania2022 was such a great experience and I look forward to being part of Wikimania, once more, in Singapore come 2023!
