On this page, the annual action plan for Wikimedia UG Georgia is given. The plan was compiled by representatives of Wikimedia UG Georgia and confirmed by the Wikimedia UG Georgia Board of Trustees.
Action plan for 2019

[edit]Wikipedia 18 Wikipedia is a multilingual, web-based, free encyclopedia based on a model of openly editable and viewable content, a wiki. Wikipedia was launched on January 15, 2001, by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger. This year, the online encyclopedia celebrates its 18th anniversary. On this occasion, the editors of the Georgian Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects in Georgian, which are members of the Board Members Wikimedia UG Georgia in parallel, will give an interview about the Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects of the Georgian television and print media on Georgian. |
February
[edit]Training series In February of this year, representatives of the Wikimedia UG Georgia are going to visit the Kakheti region of Georgia, where they will hold two meetings with young people and tell them about the Wikimedia projects on Georgian. |
Collaboration program This month, a representative of Wikimedia UG Georgia will be held in collaboration with Association of Georgian History Teachers to hold a joint edit-a-thon, during which new articles on cultural heritage of Kazbegi Municipality will be created in Georgian Wikipedia. |

[edit]Bakuriani WikiCamp From March 8 to 12, Wikimedia Community User Group Georgia conducts a spring camp for young people aged 14 to 25 years, to acquire skills in Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects. During the camp, young people will study the wiki-technology (1-2 days), and then under the supervision of experienced wikipedians (members of the user group) will independently create and translate articles in Georgian Wikipedia. The main goal of the camp, to attract more young people to work in Georgian Wikipedia, Georgian Wikiquote and other projects of Wikimedia. |
Wikimedia CEE Spring 2019 is an annual event organised by Wikimedians and Wikipedians who joined the Central and Eastern Europe collaboration with an aim to support article creation about every country in the region on every Wikipedia. This year, the competition in the Georgian Wikipedia will be held for the fifth time in a row, under the leadership of the Wikimedia UG Georgia. |
The Wikimedia Summit 2019 – formerly known as "Wikimedia Conference" or "Chapters Meeting" – will be in Berlin during 29–31 March 2019. This year, Wikimedia UG Georgia at the summit will be represented by Board Member Wikimedia UG Georgia Mehman Ibragimov. |

[edit]Competition of Natural Sciences Competition of Natural Sciences is a competition held by Wikimedia UG Georgia to promote the natural sciences in the Georgian Wikipedia, through which the articles of the Georgian Wikipedia in chemistry, physics and biology will be improved or new articles created. Also, this contest will help increase the number of new editors in Wikipedia. The competition will be held within two months (April-May). |

[edit]Wiki Loves Earth 2019 in Georgia Wiki Loves Earth (WLE) is an annual international photographic competition held throughout May and June, organized worldwide by Wikimedia chapters, groups and local Wikipedia volunteers. This year, for the third time in a row, Wikimedia UG Georgia has been arranging it in Georgia. The main goal is to increase the number of freely licensed photos in Commons, about Georgian nature. |
A new Wikimedia UG Georgia contest on the creation of new articles about National Cultural Monuments of Georgia, the contest will be organized both in the Georgian Wikipedia and in other Wikipedias. Prizes will be calculated both at the local level and at the international level.

In July, Wikimedia UG Georgia will hold a WikiCamp for teachers to work in Wikimedia projects. With the help of a WikiCamp for teachers, we can teach them wiki-technologies, and they will teach it to students.

The WikiTour will be organized by Wikimedia UG Georgia, the purpose of which is to add to the Commons more freely licensed images about Georgian regions and villages. All photos will be used in Wikimedia projects.

[edit]Wiki Loves Caucasus 2019 is the first regional competition, which is organized by Caucasian Wikimedians. The main goal of the competition is to create as many articles about the Caucasus in the languages of the Caucasus as possible. The Georgian Wikipedia will participate in the competition under the leadership of Wikimedia UG Georgia, which is also one of the international organizers of the entire competition. Winners will be awarded with different prizes. |

[edit]Wikipedia Asian Month 2019 Wikipedia Asian Month is an annual Wikipedia contest focused on promotion of Asian content in different language Wikipedia. Each participating community runs a month-long online edit-a-thon every November at their local language Wikipedias and create new content about Asia except their own country. Wikimedia UG Georgia will participate in the contest for the fourth year in a row. The competition will be held in the Georgian Wikipedia. The winners will receive different prizes. |

Georgian WikiConference is an annual conference that organizes Wikimedia UG Georgia to promote Wikimedia projects in Georgia.
