Wikimedia CH/Micro Grant/Photographing historical sites in Zimbabwe

Your Country of residence: Switzerland, but currently staying in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Amount requested: 500 CHF

Planned activity: Photographing historical sites in Zimbabwe (see map: http://umap.openstreetmap.fr/fr/map/historical-sites-in-zimbabwe_50273#7/-19.275/29.515). I plan to go to Zimbabwe in about 2 weeks for 1 week - maybe 10 days. My goal is to photograph the known and less known historical sites and ruins of the country. In general the coverage of these sites on Commons is poor (commons:Category:Archaeological_sites_in_Zimbabwe). The micro grant will cover part of the travel expenses while I can bear the rest.

Please explain what influence your activity will have on Wikimedia Projects
At least 20 high definition, high quality pictures per site can be uploaded to Commons (I own a Sony NEX-7 with 2 lenses, see Commons:Category:Files by Typhoon). Contributors can then be encouraged to write new articles (for the sites without an entry on en:wikipedia, to add content to the existing articles and/or to translate them into their mother tongue). The total number of sites will depend of the length of the trip - given the poor traffic conditions in Zimbabwe, the maximum that can be reasonably expected is one major site every 2 days.
