Abstract (up to 100 words)
Newcomer tasks at Czech Wikipedia

Let's discuss about initiatives taken around easing newcomers first steps and have a community growing!

The Wikimedia Foundation Growth team is working on new tools that would help communities to welcome newcomers and grow wikis in size and quality: Newcomer tasks and suggested edits, Newcomer homepage, and the Help panel. Suggested edits have increased the number of constructive edits made by newcomers. And you can get these tools on your wiki!

Wikimedia Hungary recently conducted a large-scale survey targeting newcomers and have multiple projects around stats and help chat.

Mentoring is really successful on Czech Wikipedia with dedicated mentors. We will explore how they feel about being mentors.
