Abstract:
Tatar musical culture has at least three layers. The most ancient layer is associated with the culture of performing epic tales - dastans. Another layer is associated with the Turkic aruz, the third - with Eurocentric practice. Each of these layers contains its own terminology. The main problem is that each terminology does not appear at the moment as a single whole. This is most noticeable when creating articles. The use of English and Russian terminology makes the article understandable only to these audiences, and its own Tatar terminology is known only in a narrow environment. However, there are different types of trade-off solutions. |

How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of CEE?
I am writing a dissertation for a candidate in art history about Tatar and Bashkir music and embodying these ideas in my composing work. For this reason, I wanted to introduce the group to the specifics of its terminology, as well as the issues associated with its use. Introduce problems and your proposals for their solution that appeared during the writing and editing of Wikipedia articles. |
