Abstract: Through the chronicle of a project stalled for years, which has led to significant volunteer discouragement, resulting in approximately 50 contributors becoming inactive, we will: Highlight challenges faced by small communities trying to integrate: fruitless attempts to engage with instances, encountering obstacles, and indifference. Seek active participation from attendees and broader community support to gather ideas on advancing decision-making and discussions on criteria and practices. Advocate for transparency in handling projects, which was denied to this one. The aim is to seek methods to advance inclusive practices and highlight a community excluded from knowledge-sharing due to system inefficiencies.		Slides:

How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of CEE? The goal is to increase awareness and find ways to enhance inclusivity and transparency within Wikimedia. This involves addressing practices that may exclude skilled and motivated volunteers. It's crucial to speed up decision-making processes that have been delayed, as this not only impacts small communities but also affects the sharing of free knowledge. Recognizing that other communities may identify with the challenges faced by Montenegrin volunteers, we hope to gather insights and potential solutions from this workshop. Improving Wikimedia's practices in terms of inclusivity, transparency, and efficiency, can bring the organization closer to fulfilling its mission.
