Abstract:

This presentation will focus on strategies for convincing even the most skeptical cultural institutions to collaborate in GLAM-Wiki projects. We will discuss specific arguments and benefits that promote openness and participation in such projects. Drawing from the experiences of various Wikimedia chapters, we will create a catalog of universal arguments that have proven effective. Participants will learn the best ways to build trust and work with GLAM institutions. We will also discuss if it is worth trying to persuade those who are unsure and how to approach them with strong, personalized messages that show the benefits of working together in GLAM-Wiki projects.
