What is the main goal of your project?
  • The Wikimedia User Group has been participating in the International Conference Series for the Promotion of Educational Innovation for many years. This international event, held at the University of Thessaly in Larissa, attracts hundreds of educators. Additionally, we have a user group member based in Larissa. By participating in this event, we aim to promote our activities to educators and establish connections through our education program.
  • For instance: CEE Newsletter, Education Newsletter * During this event important projects of our Wikipedia in Education program have been presented. For example: CorfuPedia, Online Training Platform and other projects.
Describe which activities you plan to implement
  • Presence of the user group with stand and banners at the place for 3 days
  • We have Wikipedia leaflets to give
  • We also distribute a questionnare on Ethics on Wikipedia and Educational platforms as part of Marios' research on the matter
  • Marios Magioladitis will present a portion of his research to the event as invited speaker. This is also a cooperation with Ionian University team: E. Christopoulou and D. Riggas.
Describe your team
  • Marios Magioladitis, president of the board of Wikimedia Community User Group Greece
  • One educator from Corfu that applied Wikipedia in Classroom (name: Dimitra Karavida). She will share her experience with the audience and the visitors.
  • One library staff from Corfu will join to help with the stand and also talk to other educators abou the Wikipedia Education program we implemented at the Public Library of Corfu and how people can join as volunteers to the meeting
  • 1 or 2 Wikipedia volunteers from the area of Thessaly will join us.

  • Our target group is educators are willing to implement Wikipedia in classroom. We want also to raise awareness on the group activities and Wikimedia mission.

  • We will have a questionnare on:
    • How many educators use Wikipedia in classroom

  • I am available to answer any questions on the matter. We will try to promote our wikipedia in education program as much as possible and my experience shows that this will have positive effect to our activities.
