Extraordinary General Assembly 2021

[edit]

On December 2-3, 2021 the Extraordinary General Assembly of Wikimedia Armenia was organized. Due to COVID-19, the General Assembly was held online. Fourteen days before the Assembly the members of the organization were notified and were given the opportunity to nominate themselves as members of the Board, the Chair and the Secretary of the General Assembly, and members of the Counting Committee.

In order to nominate, to ask questions, and to open discussion a special page was created on the Meta-Wiki page where each member could nominate themselves, raise questions and discuss issues, as well as become familiar with the schedule of the whole General Assembly. We used all possible social media platforms for notifying the members about the Extraordinary General Assembly: Facebook, Instagram, the website of the organization, Meta-Wiki page, Telegram. Besides this, we sent notifications to the members about the whole process and voting via email.

A day before the General Assembly on December 1, a video call was organized during which the candidates introduced themselves and the participants asked questions. Per our request, the Vice-Chair of the Affiliations Committee and a representative of the Wikimedia Foundation also participated in the video call. The participants of the meeting asked questions about the ongoing situation of Wikimedia Armenia.

On December 2-3, the members of the organization participated in the Extraordinary General Assembly by voting via the Google forms specially created for the two stages of the Assembly. On the first day, the members voted for the agenda, the Chair and the Secretary of the General Assembly, and the Counting Committee. On the second day, they voted for the members of the Board. As a result, the new Board consisting of six members was formed.
