[edit]- Deon will be hosting training in Pretoria for the academy training on Afrikaans Wikipedia
Afrikaans has grown to 8000 members, and Afrikaans super editors get a token of thanks. Douglas has contacted one of them who is gert, he is happy with the data, as a thank you gift. MOU needs to be written, and Bobby and Deon sit and write down the MOU.
- Bobby is busy organizing WikiIndaba, the chapters can get involved when funding is available. Rwanda selected South Africa Chapter to help with the *logistics of WikiIndaba. the chapter will charge a fee of 10% and this will belong to the Chapter.
- Bobby is also busy organizing Wikimania, he applied for Wikimania for South Africa, an online event, the WMF, suggested for countries organise mini meet-ups.2 days will be dedicated to different regions, still waiting on an update on when Wikimania will host Africa.
- Bobby will have a Zulu dancing group, which will be the entertainment for South Africa and will showcase South African culture.
- Kimberley event went well, 20 people attended, 80% didn't know about Wikipedia, 205 does, and the articles covered Kimberely's history and stories, it's a town with a lot of history and culture. A report has been written on the event.
- Douglas will be working on the website, just needs to get some time to set this up, he is looking into the next couple of days.
- Shupai and Douglas had their first face-to-face meeting with Shupai and to commence when he is back in South Africa
- Douglas to give an update on the Kaapse folks in the
Wikimania Update
[edit]- Douglas is working on the Cape Town working with Ingrid, the venue will be at UCT, a form was created and shared with board members. he is looking at current super editors to send to them to notify them about the event and join.
- Scholarships for people who identify as South African Wkimedians. Scholarships covers, headphones, data, childcare..etc...
- Shupai to speak to Tobias to organize furniture for Wikimania in Cape Town
- A different survey to be created for scholarships
- A meeting to be held with Ingrid, Bobby, Douglas, and the interns.
- It is important to include partners, as well as students.
- 2 round tables are being organised, one is specifically for Cape Town, which will be a journalism table, and the second one will be copywriting program which will go on program.
WikimediaZA Website
[edit]In regards to the website, this can be a collaboration working on the website assisting Doulas. Board members like Nobantu and McQueen are knowledgeable about website creation and they can assist. Douglas to show members how to update the website, it was proposed a workshop be held on updating the website after it is up and running.
