How did you attend Wikimania (virtually or in-person)? I attended the meeting virtually.
What did you spend the scholarship funds on? Due to unstable power supply here in Nigeria, I bought a laptop power bank which is 65,000 naira, an internet subscription which is 10,000 naira, and I bought some books which will help me in some of my research in contributing to Wikipedia. These books cost 30,000 naira.
Takeaways – choose 3 specific Wikimania sessions you attended and describe your key takeaways per session.
PODCASTING ABOUT WIKIMEDIA IN YOUR LOCAL LANGUAGE.

Day 3 session 1. This session is about how to start a podcast in your local language. The speaker made it known that in podcasts, you are like a journalist and whatever information you are passing to your audience should be relevant. Podcasts are done in audio because most people do not have enough time to sit and read. Also, it helps the reader multitask. That is they can do other things while they listen. A podcast is best done in local languages because it is relatable.

       How to start

1. Basic microphone, even an external web camera, will get someone far. 2. Headset can also help. 3. The most important piece of equipment is silence. 4. Audacity software will help to do some editing to your audio.

Things to consider when starting a podcast

Format- What this means is the kind of format one would like to use. it could be newscast format, interview, breaking news e.t.c Niche - What you would want to talk about. It could be about technology, community, government, regional aspect e.t.c Length - It means how often you would like to make a podcast.

There are some pages where one can find information for podcasts. Examples of such places are Wikimedia Diff, Wikipedia signpost, Wikipedia Facebook and many more. There are some other podcasts one can listen to to get inspired. Examples are Wiki common, Wiki Africa and so on.

IMAGE CREDITS IN WIKIMANIA. CAN WE DO BETTER?

Day 4 tent 3 This session wass handled by three speakers. they talked about image credits in wikimania. The discussion started in wiki Facebook according to one of the speakers. The current practice was looked into which is: 1. The provision of the licensing information on an external website [ Wikimedia Commons], and insert a [n invisible] clickable link to the original file containing all relevant information. 2. Assume that reuser would click on the [invisible] link to find the image license. These current practices have some common problems which include: 1. Misattribution by reusers (no attribution) 2. Putting reusers at the risk of criminal ability 3. No good example of giving credits for reuse ourselves. The speakers suggest some solutions which they think can be of help to the current situation. One of the speakers suggested experiments as part of the solutions to these problems. A limited experiment can be designed to test the hypothesis that this would be a good change.

Online learning and skill development platform.

Day 1 Tent 1. This session was anchored by Asaf Bartov. He talked about why an online learning platform is needed. He made it known that our strategy calls for training and skill development, getting materials for this training and development may not be accessible, hence, an online learning platform. Also, some existing materials are under-utilized. This is due to the fact that most people cannot make use of some materials because it is written in a language they do not understand. Having some of these materials online and translated into different languages make them more accessible to people in the language they understand. Another reason we need online learning is that so many topics are uncovered. Wikilearn is a new Wikimedia online learning platform. It is running on free software called Open edX. No new information is needed on Open edX, just the information on Wikimedia. On WikiLearn, one can learn different courses such as Introduction to partnership Building, Addressing Harassment online, Wikimania speaker guide book and so on. Many more courses are also coming soon on WikiLearn

How did you connect with other people during Wikimania 2022? How did you celebrate at Wikimania 2022?
I connected with other people during Wikimani 2022 virtually. I was able to interact and ask questions from the speakers in the comment sections. I celebrated Wikimania 2022 by talking to a few Yoruba native speakers about how they can contribute immensely to Wikipedia, how they can develop their skills on wiki learn, and how the community can gain from their contributions to Wikipedia.
