How did you attend Wikimania (virtually or in-person)?

I attended Wikimania 2022 virtually

What did you spend the scholarship funds on? I spent the scholarship fund on

1. A small hardware (my laptop battery) 2. Data for internet access 3. Fuel to power my generating set 4. Some light refreshment to enliven my time at Wikimania 2022

Takeaways – choose 3 specific Wikimania sessions you attended and describe your key take-aways per session.

I attended the opening session on August 11, and even though there were some glitches, the COT succeeded in piquing my interest. The 3 specific wikimania sessions I will like to describe are as follows, note that they are not in any particular order!

1. The laughter session - I understood that Wiki projects is not all about coding, editing, etc., but the general wellbeing of editors, physical, emotional, mental, etc, are also important. I leant new dance steps and more

2. The A + F session (especially the writing women into history) - although I had a prior knowledge that there is a drive ongoing to bridge the gender gap in Wikipedia projects, Wikimania 2022 further firmed my resolve to be an active participant in bridging the gap and I have gone back to ginger up my co-editors on the yo.wikipedia and we are soon launching our project.

3. The closing session - the excitement on the faces of the recipients of the different categories of the Wikimedian of the year, especially when Jimmy joins their video call sessions really makes me glad and I know that whatever I do is being appreciated and I share in their joy.

4. The cultural presentations - I enjoyed the Mexican presentation very much, even though I did not understand the language, the funfair was fun indeed

How did you connect with other people during Wikimania 2022?

I reached out to a few people I had met before (precisely at Wiki Indaba 2019 in Abuja, Nigeria) eg User: Jadnapac and Asaf Bartov (just said hi to them)

How did you celebrate at Wikimania 2022?

Well, because in the midst of no public power in my area, and I was running my power generating set, a few people came over, but unfortunately they did not understand the concept of Wikipedia and so refused my permission to take their pictures and I had to refuse their request to stay.
