  2. A computer: is a useful tool to have

Steps

[edit]
  1. Make sure that the HowTo doesn't exist under another name.
  2. Naming the HowTo:
    • Make sure the name is not too general or ambitious
    • Remove words like "howto, a, an" Keep it to Verb and Noun, adjectives if necessary to make it more precise. Keep it short, but descriptive.
    • Example: 'HowTo check your spark plugs' should be Check_spark_plug
    • Often it is necessary to add specific product names, when steps vary from product to product.
      • Example: use 'Install_Linux_Fedora_Core_2' instead of 'Install_Linux'
  3. Follow Wikihowto/howto_formate template:
    • Make a short description, if beneficial add a link to a wikipedia definition in the form Definition: Fedora_Core
    • Make the Requirement/Part/Tool list short.
      • If necessary, add a description of the requirement, after a semicolon.
        • definition, Rough price, why you need it, or substitutions are good to add.
    • Be descriptive, add sub steps to make things clearer
    • If the step requires more than a short sentence, title the step and put the information into sup-steps, or sub-sub-steps.
    • Keeps all steps, sub-steps, etc short so reader can easily come back to the step he or she completed
  4. Link to Other HowTo's:
    • When a step assumes knowledge of HowTo do something not described on you page, Add a link to another howto.
    • Links should be in the form See:[ [ wikihowto/replace_light_bulb | HowTo: replace a light bulb ] ]
    • For example: 1. Before you start the engine you should check your spark plugs. See:HowTo:Check your spark Plugs
  5. Link keywords that others may not know to wikipedia
