Multilingual Education is a Pillar of Intergenerational Learning
International Mother Tongue Day is a globally recognized annual celebration of mother languages and usually celebrated every 21st February to promote and increase awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity of indigenous languages while promoting multilingualism. This global event was first recognized by UNESCO on 17 November 1999, which later paved way for it formal recognition by the United Nations General Assembly with the adoption of UN resolution in 2002. Everyone can participate!
In the 2024 edition, the Wikitongues community in partnership with the Wikimedia community will participate globally in the global commemoration and celebration of the International Mother Tongue Celebration. The basic aim of this project is to improve articles related to over 7000 languages across the world, ensure a continuous and consistent efforts towards the development and protection of indigenous language worldwide. Every activities and submission of contents must align with the theme of this years celebration.
