Chapter endorsements
[edit]Several chapters have already or will shortly be endorsing this conference during their monthly chapter meetings. This includes Wikimedia Argentina, Wikimedia Australia, Wikimedia India, Wikimedia Portugal and Wikimedia Bangladesh.
Wikimedia Argentina
[edit]Wikimedia Argentina decided to support this initiative by providing at least, logistics and venue. That was decided during November's board meeting in Buenos Aires. Also, WA decided to take the opportunity to organize a Gender Gap meeting in the same week.
Wikimedia Australia
[edit]The following endorsement was passed during the chapter's 18 December 2011 meeting (and will be linked to when minutes are posted):
- Resolve that
Wikimedia Australia supports in principle the conferences being organised for May 2012 in Buenos Aires for women in the Wikimedia Foundation movement. The first conference is a three day women (and transgendered) only wiki conference, facilitated using open-space in English and Spanish by Anne Goldenberg with Wikimedia Argentina being the formal hosts. It was conceptualised at GLAM Camp Amsterdam, and early organisers include women affiliated with Wikimedia Argentina, Wikimedia Israel, Wikimedia Australia, Wikimedia India, Wikimedia Portugal, Wikimedia Espana and Wikimedia UK. Wikimedia Chile consulted a male member early in the process. Subsequently, women from wikiHow have been included in the organising process. The event will be open to all women involved with the Wikimedia Movement, involved with wikis in general including commercial, non-profit and educational wikis. The second conference is a two day conference that will be about WMF's gender gap and is being primarily organised by Wikimedia Argentina that will be facilitated in English and Spanish. It will follow immediately after WikiWomenCamp with details regarding the name, conference facilitation type and participation based on gender in the near future. Wikimedia Australia will encourage its female members to attend this event and, as the budget allows, may provide assistance in costs to allow them to participate.
Wikimedia Austria
[edit]Wikimedia Austria invites all female editors and contributors from Austria to participate in this conference online or offline. To fund the long travel a travel budget of 5.000 EUR is provided for refund of airfare. Requests should be made to the WMAT board beforehand.
Beside that Wikimedia Austria provides 2.000 EUR to fund the organizer team, this money can be used for the conference or to fund travel costs from participants who do not have a supporting chapter.
Wikimedia India
[edit]Wikimedia India supports WikiWomenCamp 2012 organised on May 2012 in Buenos Aires for women wikimedians.
Wikimedia Indonesia
[edit]Based on decision of Wikimedia Indonesia Board of Executives on January 31st, 2012, WMID officially support the WikiWomenCamp 2012. The printed version of WMID letter of support can be found here: WMID-WikiWomenCamp Letter of Support.pdf.
Wikimedia Portugal
[edit]Wikimedia Portugal passed a endorsement review of the conference in the chapter's 6th General Assembly at 18 December 2011. (The exactly translation and link will be included when the minutes are posted.)
Wikimedia South Africa
[edit]WMZA agreed to support the WikiWomenCamp at it's Chapter meeting held on January 15, 2012.
