The official language of Malaysia is Bahasa Malaysia, a standardized form of Malay language. The other major spoken languages in this country are Malaysian English, Chinese, and Tamil. The internet penetration in this country is 55.3% or 15,635,925 people having internet connection in 2010.

Wikipedia

Based on article count, Malay Wikipedia ranked 32th out of 284 Wikipedias in the world, with 12 very active wikipedians and 90 active users in January 2012.[1][2] Between November 2010 and October 2011, 0.8% of traffic to English Wikipedia, 1.7% traffic to Chinese Wikipedia, and 84.9% traffic to Malay Wikipedia was came from this country.[3] In December 2011, there were 5,960 women of all ages from Malaysia who were interested in Wikipedia on Facebook.[4] In December 2011, according to Alexa, Wikipedia was ranked the 7th most popular site in the country.[5] Netball is one of the most popular women's participation sports in former and current Commonwealth countries. There are 3 articles about netball in this country on English Wikipedia. There are 17 articles about models from this country on English Wikipedia

Wikinews, Wikibooks, Wikiversity, and Other Projects

A December 2011 search on Spanish Wikinews for Malasia mujeres found 1 articles that mentioned both words.[6] There are no female administrators on English wikinews from this country, nor are there any women from this country who are English wikinews accredited reporters.

In December 2011, according to Alexa, Wikibooks was ranked the 3,875th most popular site in the country.[7]

There is a Malayasian woman who has contributor to the language incubator who uses Dusun. She has made 92 contributions to incubator.

Women in Malaysia

Traditionally, Malaysian women were mainly viewed as household. Since the establishment of Ministry of National Unity and Social Development in 1997, Malaysian government supports the women rights of making decision, advancing health, education, social welfare, and removing gender discrimination. However, until present, Malaysian women still live under patriarchal system, influenced by their cultural and religion values.

The Foundation

During the December 2011 fundraising appeal, no Malaysians, men or women, were featured are part of the appeal. During the 2011 Summer of Research, the WMF hired eight research fellows. Of these, only one was female, and she was from the United States. There were four males from American universities, The other researchers included men from a Japanese university, a Swiss university and a Canadian university. There were no research fellows, male or female, from this country.
