Wiki J Med Update

  • Cleaned up tracking list - 6 articles remaining; 2 with unresponsive authors
  • Need people to pick up some articles at above
  • Immune system article cleared up and hopefully ready to review soon; 1 review is in
  • RW heading to China for 3 weeks so will be unresponsive until return

Wiki J Sci Update

  • Update in Evening meeting

  • Talk to board about future of journal
  • Would like to have representative at every meeting

Editorial board applications

  • WikiJ Sci can be closed - all support - accepted
  • Wiki J Med 1st application has support but still need to wait for response
  • Wiki J Med 2nd needs more time
  • Wiki J Med 3rd follow up - lost login for old account

EduWiki Conference

  • Thomas will be using Wikimedia Australia
  • Space for 1 more person from editorial board

Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association online conference

  • 19-21 Sept - registration is now open
  • Options to present lighting presentations
  • All proposals should be submitted by June 26, 2023 via this form which asks for a brief description (up to a strict maximum count of 250 words) of your proposal. Registration costs for the authors of successful proposals will be waived.

Web_of_Science application

  • Science or Medicine first? - Which is most likely to get accepted
  • 6 months to get an answer
  • 1-2 year “cooling down period”
  • Timeliness of Publication could be looked into by them
  • Thomas - Wiki J Med first

Workmarket update

  • Needed to be location independent
  • Integration test ongoing
  • Close to being rolled out

Preprints

  • WikiJSci received a number of already-published articles submitting for publication through the Preprint pathway. Appears to be misunderstanding of what Preprint is. Should we update the instructions on Preprint page?
    • Need to update instruction on Preprint, authorship declaration form and infobox

Wiki J Sci Update

  • Fixing Non-canonical base-pairing PDF
  • Peter following up but still not received
  • Fixing Wikidata for one
  • Broadbill articles
  • Reviewer stepped back on Sustainability
  • MALT1 and CARD-CC have not been editing since mid march
  • Design Effect anonymous reviewer desired to remain anonymous, was informed of contacting policy

Wiki J Hum Update

  • Number of submissions since december and have not been allocated
  • Need to see if we should pause submissions until backlog is tackled
  • May need to prioritize articles
  • Ask Technical editors to find a potential list of peer reviewers for unassigned
    • 6-10 potential reviewers
    • Start small scale for budget purposes
  • May have contact from EduWiki conference for board

EduWiki Conference

  • Stickers are a huge hit
    • Integrate url as QR code into sticker detailing a brief description of Wiki J
  • Met some board members
  • Sending presentation on youtube
  • Conference proceedings in WJH
    • Thais proposed this idea
    • Check editorial board if they are ok
    • Thais is suggested to be the guest editor
  • Members of thematic group approached
    • Process stopped pursuing because of some grants were previously excluding user groups
    • Would like to continue the process to be recognized as thematic group

WikiConference North America

  • In Mid-Nov in Toronto
  • Theme - recent changes (AI is Huge)
  • Scholarship opportunities for delegates open next week after language translation

Conference acceptance

  • Vetted based on criteria
  • Can be very tight
  • Focus on underrepresented regions

Web of Science application

  • Indexed by Web of Science may lead to influx of submissions
    • Do we have enough staff to handle the increased volume of submissions?
    • Thomas suggested to do more desk reject if necessary and too many submissions (but not ideal solution - better to bring in more editors)
