[edit]Agenda
[edit]- 10 mins (Mossab Banat) - Possible collaboration with specific universities
- 10 min (Candace Makeda Moore) - improving processes to enable video summaries of articles
- 10 min - Any last items to add to grant application? (feedback from WMF during April)

- 5 min - Deletion policy of preprints proposal
- 20 min - How to better onboard new asoc editors and board members [not discussed]
Notes
[edit]- Mossab currently working at Uni Jordan (Amman)
- Possible collab with University - support financially if support publication with 1 month
- $400 per paper for fast-tracked review
- Thoughts on this from combined meeting
- Discussion of experience- one month timeline can be challenging
- Concern about making promise we can’t keep- again with timing
- Contact of additional peer reviewers and desire to keep the priority list to the most appropriate viewers
- Discussion of paying for reviewers
- Timely review is a struggle for us across the process
- Perhaps need a meeting to meet with faculty at Univ. of Jordan and WikiJMedicine board
- Keep review, speed, and rigor separated from financial support
- Videos- as we explore the potential of making videos
- What is the process, workflow, and timeline
- Linking video to publication
- Standard language and consistency
- Need a single point of contact for an author
- Video creation before publication acceptance has value in the energy level might be higher for the author. HOWEVER, some concerns when the item has not been accepted for publishing
- Idea of adding something to editorial guidelines to formalize the process. Create a template email for interacting with authors
- Pedagogical component throughout entire process
- Need to have an example video as a ‘case study’- 15 minute webcam interview with a short series of questions that will then get edited down to 3 minutes
- Grant application - overview of the current draft
- Budget plan - programs, meant to link up to programs plan
- Please check budget’s programs section to add any final ideas for enhancing ‘Content contribution and community growth’ and ‘Outreach, awareness and partnerships’
- WikiCite shared citations
- Looking for endorsements from other wiki projects
- Specific spin off of WikiData for citable items
- Shared citations commons
- Some concerns over the project being too new and not finalized yet
- Feel free to endorse as individuals, but need to wait for working prototype before adopting
- Deletion policy
- By authors will or against
- For pre-prints and for items that have gone through review and been rejected
- Automatic delete for items that are ‘junk’ or pseudo science
- Preprint servers- once you put the article up it is up and part of the record even if it does not make it through review
- Need a better method to inform readers when a paper was declined
- Can make a clearer flag at the top to indicate an article is a pre-print, undergoing review, or rejected
Action items
[edit]- Mossab - arrange contact with Uni. Jordan for discussions
- Thomas - move in deletion guidelines to /publications page
- Candace+Amelia - draft simple 2-5 point guidelines for approaching authors about videos
- When (before or after acceptance?
- Who (handling editor? Cc in handling editor? Check with handling editor beforehand?)
- What (what to suggest/offer, suggested email template)
- All - final checks of grant app and budget plan
