[edit]I attended some sessions in the pre-conference and some of which are:
- Community resources: How to get funded
- Affiliation Committee: How to create and support an affiliate in the Movement
- Privacy and security online
Due to network issues, I resorted to watching the youtube and facebook feeds and these are the sessions I watched:
- Opening Ceremony
- The Use Of QRpedia As A Tool To Generate QRcodes To Tell The Wiki Story In Africa
- Exploring Wikivoyage to improve travel information about the African continent
- Building a Wikimedia Community in African Educational Institutions: Experiences of Wikimedians in Africa
Connections made
[edit]I had the opportunity to speak to some Wikipedia volunteers editors from the various user groups in Africa have continued the relationship via social media.
Learning points
[edit]- I learnt about the different types of grants, general support funds, the funds for groups and communities.
- I learnt about WikiTravel vs WikiVoyage, history of Wikivoyage and the necessity for Wikivoyage.
Outcome
[edit]I keep mentioning and highlighting the things I learnt in the training sessions I organize for newbies and experienced editors for the Dagbani Wikimedian User Group and the Gurenɛ Wikimedia Commnunity.
