Description

- Wikimedia Nigeria Imo State Network consists of both new and experienced contributors who still need to deepen their understanding of the Wikimedia movement. Therefore, during the convening, we will take the opportunity to explain what WikiIndaba is, how the movement participates in it, and how members can build their capacity to increase their chances of future in-person participation.On October 4th, we will host a one-day watch party where our community members will gather to participate virtually by joining sessions focused on best practices for growing smaller communities, community initiatives that inspire, learning, and more. We will close the watch party by visiting Dreamland Amusement Park in Owerri for fun activities. Before we depart, we will encourage participants to continue watching sessions virtually on October 5th and 6th. Participants will be asked to share in the community WhatsApp group the names and a short description of the sessions they watch daily. The description should be 2-4 sentences long and include the session title, speakers, focus, key learnings, session YouTube links, and how the session inspired them. Participants who engage virtually from October 5th to 6th and share their session summaries in the community platform will be reimbursed for data used during their participation. This practice of sharing in the WhatsApp group is strategic for inspiring the entire community to engage in discussions and sessions related to the conference."

Unfortunately, we have to inform you that your application for the micro-grant has not been successful. The fact that we received an impressive number of quality applications and the constraint of funding only five applications, as we had indicated in the call for applications, made the decision-making process extremely difficult. Given these constraints, the team decided to award grants only to under-represented communities or groups.
Although your application was not selected, we greatly appreciate your interest in WikiIndaba 2024. To stay engaged and follow all the latest updates, we invite you to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and instagram. In addition, we encourage you to subscribe to our YouTube channel, where we will be sharing conference highlights and key sessions.
