Description
[edit]I would like to request this grant to support in organizing a side event related to the wiki indaba conference happening in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 4 to 6 November 2024, to enable the people of NKOMBO sector /Rusizi district/Western province of Rwanda, to be familiar with Wikimedia and how they can contribute in it, as this is a remote area in Rwanda. I have joined Wikimedia movement in Rwanda recently and from my experience as teacher and master of ceremony who joined Wikimedia movement recently, I have read theme of Wiki indaba 2024 and when I found out, it's about empowerment and skills development in the movement strategy especially in our country where the youth are the majority. I'm eager to contribute to the awareness of open knowledge to the communities of Nkombo in remote village of Western province of Rwanda through an event which will be associated to following sessions which are related to engagement of newbies in the movement.

- Germain92 will guide the conversations as an experienced wiki median and will be connecting with the team on site to coordinate the participants and activities.

Unfortunately, we have to inform you that your application for the micro-grant has not been successful. The fact that we received an impressive number of quality applications and the constraint of funding only five applications, as we had indicated in the call for applications, made the decision-making process extremely difficult. Given these constraints, the team decided to award grants only to under-represented communities or groups.
