Abstract:
To realize our vision of a world in which everyone can share in the sum of all human knowledge, the UCoC and Enforcement Guidelines(EGs) were developed in collaboration with the community to create positive, safe and healthy spaces within communities. The UCoC is structured to mostly benefit small and medium sized communities that usually don't have their own arbitration committees/adjudication structures. Thus, this workshop seeks to discuss and gather insights and input from African community members on how they envision the UCoC/EGs will benefit their communities and how they will want the UCoC/EGs to serve their communities. This will be useful for the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating committee's (U4C) work as they oversee the enforcement process of the UCoC. The U4C is a new global governing body that will be set up by the U4C Building Committee to serve as a final recourse for UCoC Enforcement. |

Extra information: I would ideally like for this session to be a workshop as i will mostly love to hear from attendees and get their insights, feedback, opinions etc. on this topic but I'm also happy to turn it into a lightning talk if there are availability/time constraints - Etherpad | |||
How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region?
Indaba attendees will have an opportunity to contribute and shape how the UCoC impacts their community to ensure that there is diversity of thought and an equitable UCoC enforcement process.Ultimately, communities who will likely be impacted the most by the UCoC will have an opportunity to influence that impact. |
