Description
[edit]Please add description of the request, with all the necessary details.
This project is centered around the "Wikimedia Photo Walk in Kainji Lake National Park Museum" of Niger State, designed to engage new members of Wikimedia. Kainji Lake National Park (KLNP) holds the distinction of being the first National Park established among the eight currently in existence in Nigeria. Spanning an impressive 5,340.82 km2, the park comprises two distinct sectors, Borgu and Zugurma, each boasting an abundance of diverse flora, fauna, hydrological features, cultural treasures, and human resources.
In terms of its remarkable fauna, the park is home to a rich array of species, including Baboons, Patas monkeys, Green monkeys, Lions, Buffalos, Grimm's Duikers, Elephants, Warthogs, and Redflanked Duikers, among others. The park's museum further enhances this immersive experience with various galleries:
1. Anatomy of Various Animals in Nigerian
2. The Fulani and Bussa World View
3. The Coal City Gallery
4. Hunting Tools
These galleries not only serve as repositories of knowledge but also have the potential to become Wiki Love Monuments. Within these hallowed halls, visitors can explore ancient tools used by fishermen, hunters, and rangers, offering captivating and valuable documentation for collection and sharing.
By capturing the essence of Kainji Lake National Park and its museum through this project, we aim to not only enrich Wikimedia but also inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural and cultural wonders it preserves.

Jury decision
[edit]Dear Abdulazeez Taufeeq and colleagues from Wikimedia Photo walk in Kainji Lake Nation Park Museum,
We are sincerely grateful for the time and effort you invested in applying for a micro-grant for WikiIndaba 2023. Your interest in contributing to this event is highly appreciated.
Unfortunately, we have to inform you that your application was not selected for the micro-grant. We received an overwhelming number of quality applications (77 applications for only 7 grants), which made the decision process extremely challenging. Given the constraints, our focus has been on projects from underrepresented communities or groups that lack on-site representation at the conference. The team decided therefore to provide the grants only to countries where there are no user groups at the moment.
Though your application was not selected, we greatly value your interest in WikiIndaba 2023. To stay engaged and catch all the latest updates, we invite you to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and instagram. Additionally, we encourage you to subscribe to our YouTube channel, where we'll be sharing conference highlights and key sessions. We also suggest reaching out to your group members who will be participating in the conference, so they can share experiences and learnings with you.
Best regards,
