- Step 2. Reserve the article
Reserve the article you would like to edit using this Google sheet. This will prevent two or more editors from working on the same article at the same time.
- Step 3. Add the information
- Select an article to edit
- Click 'Edit' on the top right. if you see code and not plain text, click to switch to the Visual Editor.
- Find other suitable references online or in a book (This is where there second tab come in handy)
- Write the information you want to add to Wikipedia in your own words (don't just copy someone else's work).
- Add the reference to the end of the sentence.
- Click 'Publish changes' and say what you did in the summary and include #WikiGap.
How to add links
All pages on Wikipedia should be linked together:
- Find a page you want to add internal links to.
- Find words on the page that could link to other articles.
- Click 'Edit' at the top of the article, if you see code click to switch to the Visual Editor.
- Add links to the other articles, you don't have to link every mention of a word, only the first one.
- Click 'Publish changes' and say what you did in the summary and include #WikiGap.
Add images
You can help improve the quality of an article by adding images to it.
- Find an article where you would like to add an image.
- Check if the same article has an image on any other language versions.
- Click 'Edit' at the top of the article (if you see code click to switch to the Visual Editor).
- Add an image
- Click 'Publish changes' and say what you did in the summary and include #WikiGap.
