WikiForHumanRights 2023 in South-West of Nigeria/Campaign details
The objective of the #WikiForHumanRights initiative is to ensure that impartial, evidence-based, and up-to-date information about our Right to a Healthy Environment is available to all. This right is not only recognized by the United Nations but also serves as a means of linking human rights with the threefold planetary crisis of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. The UN Environmental Program has emphasized the necessity of reconciling with nature and integrating human rights into the remedies.
Now more than ever, Wikipedia plays a crucial role in providing information to everyone about the ways in which climate change and environmental degradation affect their lives. By increasing knowledge about the healthy natural systems that provide people with clean water, breathable air, nutritious food, and essential resources, we can empower individuals and communities to take action to protect our planet. The #WikiForHumanRights in South-West of Nigeria campaign is focusing on raising awareness about how local communities are impacted by the pressing environmental issues in their area, including the triple planetary crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, as identified by the United Nations.
