Hello Everyone,

The first WikiConference India happened in 2011. It was the only pan-Indian Wikimedia Conference in the 14 years of history of Wikipedia since it started in 2001.

WikiConference India 2016 (WCI 2016) is an outcome of Indic Meetup held during Wikimania 2015. We had a collective dream to bid for Wikimania 2019 on behalf of India. If we need to run a Wikimania successfully, it is time that the Wikimedia community of all languages in India reboots itself and works together towards that. Conducting a WikiConference India first will be a good start towards achieving that goal. This will help us assess our strengths and weakness and plan accordingly for Wikimania 2019. This is our bet to prove our unity in diversity :) We would like all of Indic Language community volunteers to prove our spirit, strength and Unity. Please sign up here

Call for Jury Nomination

Call for Nomination of Jury members for Host City Selection at WikiConference India 2016

Dear Wikimedians, We're glad to announce the second edition of WikiConference India. We must look ahead in order to continue to build the world’s knowledge for the next decade. As this is a community driven conference, we want the community to nominate Juries who will select the host cities from different bids.

Criteria of Nomination

Your nominated candidate should

Not be from your local language community or from your state.
Have at least 4 years experience within Wikimedia.
Have at least 5000 edits.
Have deep insight about the course of Wikimedia movement in India.

Please help find candidates who have perspectives and voices. We also encourage candidates from all the Indic language projects and communities who are willing for the success of this conference. We need the full participation of the Indic Wikimedia community to ensure that the selection of Juries can be as diverse as possible.

Call for Host City Bids

Hi,

We welcome you to place a bid for hosting WikiConference India 2016. The bid consists of two rounds. The first round will be a simple round to encourage participation. The aim of the first round is to confirm the local community support and strength. The first 5 qualifying cities of the first round will participate in the second and final round of bidding with an elaborate plan.

First Round Bidding Criteria

City and proposed venue. This city should have at least a domestic airport.

Wikimedia signatures of active Wikimedia projects editors who commit to be involved in organizing this in your city

Link to any Wikimedia project village pump where the bid has been approved with community consensus (not mandatory but highly recommended)

Proposed overall budget to conduct an event with 500 registered participants (including the accommodation cost for 100 scholarship recipients for 3 days).

Prior experience conducting similar event(s)
