- Abstract (maximum 500 words)
Inadequate knowledge about Wikipedia policies and genuine but misplaced patriotism causes a large number of disputes in English Wikipedia, sometimes resulting in the banning of users for Wiki-warring. The talk places into perspective the nature of Wikipedia, examines some contentious areas, issues involved and suggests ways and means to avoid or resolve such issues, with the aim of making Indian editors more effective on Wikipedia.
