Recently the Wikimedia Foundation has started a localization development team that will work on improving support for the languages of India in MediaWIki and Wikipedia. Focus points are display, input methods and mobile experience. In the past months, an analysis has been made for the major languages of India, pointing out the gaps in the software we work with.
In this presentation the core issues will be highlighted, an overview will be given of what needs to be done to provide a technical level playing field for the major languages of India and we will point out where we need your help in making it a reality as soon as possible.
