Wikipedia, being one of the biggest online encyclopedia has been a source of information for many of us during our study days, searching reliable citations, books and pictures, technically a well constructed, organized and upgradable database. And every help comes with a anthropological viewpoint of showing your gratitude in the form of physical, social or technical or even monetary donations. Being benefited by Wikipedia throughout your life also should encourage you to expand the knowledge base to help others like you. Being an Indian, speaking any Indian language makes you responsible also should motivate any Indian to contribute something for his/her country & language. Contribution is an objective approach and changeable to subject and person to person. But, being a Wikipedian, contributing and expanding valuable content in an Indic Wikipedia comes with another noble approach of supporting your own language and working for the growth of it. It's a shocking fact that almost 400 languages are dying and 350 of them are from India. The revival and protection of these languages are of great need and a Wikipedia being an open, collaborative and free encyclopedia could be use as a base to reach to masses in their own languages. When most of the government portals have failed to cater to public in their mother Indian languages with a updated info Wikipedia could draw a public support if a strategic approach is initiated for the existing and incubation language initiatives. Multiple approaches could be worked out, government collaborative efforts for schools, colleges, libraries, monument/museum boards and public initiatives for institutes and organizations.
