Renuka Badhe | Executive Secretary, European Polar Board
Renuka Badhe holds a PhD on Southern Ocean phytoplankton physiology, and has a background in land economy and environmental sciences. Renuka currently works with the European Polar Board as their Executive Secretary, and has previously worked with organisations such as the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR), the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and the Student Conference on Conservation Science at the University of Cambridge. She is interested in promoting polar research to wide audiences using a variety of traditional and non-traditional communication tools, using both talks and online media. Renuka has served on many scientific and advisory boards, both as a member and as Chair. She has been recognised for her efforts in the community, some of her awards are SCAR Certificate of Excellence (2016), the APECS Mentor Award (2017), being recognised as a Bicentennial Ambassador by the New York Academy of Sciences (2017). Renuka advocates for diversity in science, and has been invited to speak on this issue frequently. |
