To visualize wikipedia's tables has an educative purpose: making data perceptible and understandable[1].
Why visualize wikipedia's tables?
[edit]There is a need to visualize data and that is why mw:Extension:EasyTimeline is installed on Wikipedias. The need comes from those example contents: w:List of countries by population (graphical) or w:Range (music) or its french version.
Giving to users the ability to visualize data is not completely achieved with mw:Extension:EasyTimeline. That is why some users write workarounds such as w:de:Bundestagswahl 2002.
Proof of concept: graph extensions and off-site visualizations
[edit]- in-page charts: mw:Category:Graph extensions (especially pChart4mw and Jpgraphmw)
- off-site charts: Visualizer for Wikimedia projects (e.g. w:template:visualize and w:template:visualizer).
