Tachelhit wikipedia

Hi,

You can have a wikipedia using two, or even three, alphabets, see Serbian and Khasak Wikipedias. If there is a fairly simple enough, straightforward way of mapping between the alphabets, as there is in said languages, then you can make a localization supporting both, permitting user to swich between them at any page. "Simple" does not mean as simple as an 1:1 relationship of characters. Any rule based transcription will do, even one with some exceptions. If you think, this may be apply to latin and native Tachelhit, you should imho give it a try. As to programming the required MediaWiki language extension for dual-scripted Tachelhit, I can do that for you. What is needed?

• complete knowledge the transcription rules, and
• human(s), who can read either variants to check the results of back and forth conversons, and assist in spotting errors.

Sorry for the delay. I am still working on a more generic transliteration module which I am having had problems to integrate into MediaWiki, and I somehow lost our initial exchange of ideas. Can you point me to a list of character mappings, or similar? Is it true that, you will be maintaining one set of MediaWiki messages only, and transliterate the other from it? Hi Zanatos11, good to read you. In the last months I have been very inactive at Wikipedia generally, because I am at the final stage of writing PhD and it has gotten very, very busy. This friend of mine hasn't joined the project yet, although I have tried to convince him many times. Maybe the tachelhit wiki should be a little bit more developed. Fortunately, though, there is another very active native speaker who has joined the last year, and I helped him at the first steps: http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Dalinanir , that is working very seriously with nice results: http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/shi/Tasnat_tamqqrant

Currently I'm pretty busy, but in about one or two months I hope to have more time and be able to help at anything that is necessary. I think it could be worth trying to implement a wikipedia that supports the three different scripts (latin, arabic and tifinagh) just much alike as the kurdish wikipedia, and I can take care of that. But for this, I think a critical number of articles and active users is necessary first, in order to establish a wikipedia separate from Wikipedia incubator. So you're welcome to resume your activity at tashelhit wikipedia and to write articles!!

Script conversion support in MediaWiki

It is possible and, generally, it is not so hard to make it if rules are relatively clear. I may adapt one of the engines, but you should describe to me what are your needs. As I understand, you want to make conversion engine between Latin and Tifinagh scripts. I may, of course, add Arabic script, too, because I see that it is one of two official alphabets of Tashelhiyt language. --Millosh 12:52, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

At the page about Tifinagh script and I saw that it doesn't have 1:1 (less options in Latin and Arabic than in Tifinagh) rules for transliteration. Hello I'm Claudi Balaguer (User Capsot from the Catalan Viquipèdia and Occitan Wikiccionari). First of all Happy New Year, I wish you and your family all the best for 2011 and that the minorized and endangered languages will be able to survive and grow as long as possible. While writing to Gerard Mejssen I just noticed some of your messages and realized that a Tachelhit Wikipedia was on the way but I don't know if it has been accepted or not and that if you need some more support, just let me know, I'll be real glad to help! I also wanted to tell you that the Catalan Viquipèdia will be celebrating its 10th birthday soon (http://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viquip%C3%A8dia:10_anys_de_la_Viquip%C3%A8dia) and that we are working on it and plan to have some sessions directed towards getting some wikipedias out of the incubator and you may be interested in participating: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Teamwork_of_projects_in_languages_with_singular_status. I'll let you know more of the project if you're interested since right now it's still at the beginning... I think you know the situation of Catalan and I also want to tell you that we have been working on the creation of a Catalan Chapter which hasn't been accepted until now because we don't have a state.
