Contest rules

[edit]

Hi,

you've dropped a number of people out of the contest. This is not my interpretation of the rules -- each joker can be used to skip a day. It's not the number of jokers left that matters for dropping out, but whether the user has written an article every day or used a joker. I think this is a result of a misunderstanding about clause 5 of the rules:

When a contestant doesn't submit an article for a day, and has no jokers left, they drop out of the race.

What I meant by "has no jokers left" is "has no jokers left to skip that day". In any case, I don't see the interpretation "has no jokers left after their existing joker is subtracted to cover their missing article submission" supported by the rules, and I think that the assumption "3 jokers means I can skip 2 articles" is counterintuitive. Once you exchange a joker for an article, you don't have to submit an article anymore.

I would not object if I didn't feel that many contestants might have understood the rules the way I intended them, and expected to be able to use 3 jokers to skip 3 days. I don't think anyone should drop out of the contest because of this ambiguity, and I believe that the rules should be clarified.

Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for your continued work as judge.--Eloquence 07:57, 4 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Problem with sources fixed

[edit]

Hi, I fixed the sources of my September 1 article; see my note on the log --azertus 09:47, 4 September 2005 (UTC)

There is still a problem with those sources, see my comments under September 1. Please fix them and let me know to look again. There is also a problem with this source in the September 3 article:
Jan Debackere "Minder televisie op Telenet". De Standaard, 3 september 2005 (registratie noodzakelijk)
I've added a notice to the September 1 article.
"Registratie noodzakelijk" means it's necessary to subscribe first to read the article. All articles are also available in the paper edition of the paper. For € 1,5- one can get a "day-pass" to access all articles in the archive. --azertus 16:57, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
