Difficulty in renewal
[edit]To answer the question posed on the 'approved temporary' page, the issue is that the specific page you put your request on is not intended for that purpose: Stewards don't watch that page, so are not likely to respond there.
Please place new requests on SRP instead. Don't worry about fixing the approved temporary page, I'll remove the misplaced request for you. Kylu 04:50, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I wondered what was taking so long. Stephen G. Brown 04:52, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Invitation
[edit]Hello, Stephen G. Brown,
I am contacting you because you have left feedback about VisualEditor at pages like mw:VisualEditor/Feedback in the past. The Editing team is now asking for your help with VisualEditor. Please tell them what they need to change to make VisualEditor work well for you. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and try to fix these small things, too.
You can share your thoughts by clicking this link. You may respond to this quick, simple, anonymous survey in your own language. If you take the survey, then you agree your responses may be used in accordance with these terms. This survey is powered by Qualtrics and their use of your information is governed by their privacy policy.
More information (including a translatable list of the questions) is posted on wiki at mw:VisualEditor/Survey 2015. If you have questions, or prefer to respond on-wiki, then please leave a message on the survey's talk page.

No renaming between November 20 and November 27
[edit]Hi,
You’re getting this because you’re a steward or global renamer. The Community Tech team are working on cross-wiki watchlists. We need to add a couple of fields to the localuser table in centralauth database. In order to be able to do this, we’d need to run a script that will get in the way of renaming users. Our apologies – we realize this is getting in the way of your work.
We ask that you do not rename anyone between 00:00 November 20 (UTC) and 00:00 November 27 (UTC).
(UTC means that if you live in the Americas, it will be on the evening or afternoon of November 19 when the script starts running, and if you live in Oceania or eastern Asia, it can be closer midday on November 27 before we can be sure the script is no longer running.)
If there are any problems related to this, or you have any questions, please write me on my talk page. /Johan (WMF) (talk) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:42, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
I want to be renamed
[edit]I heard that you are a global renamer. I would like to be renamed to miles527. If someone has already taken that username, you can change me to miles.527 or miles_527. Either is fine with me. Thanks. Miles.mu (talk) 22:00, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- You've already been renamed to User:Miles.527. Stephen G. Brown (talk) 22:14, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
I want to be renamed
[edit]I would like my username to be changed from Pietade to Pietadè.
When I started in etwi, some years ago, I was unaware of the possibility to add the grave accent on 'e'... "Pietadè" would be more correct, besides other, more or less personal reasons for this request. Thank You in advance! —Pietade (talk) 09:21, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
- Done. Stephen G. Brown (talk) 10:39, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you! —Pietadè (talk) 10:42, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
Navajo
[edit]Hi, How well do you know Navajo?
- I've been studying it for 9 years, but I consider myself still at level nv-1. Stephen G. Brown (talk) 07:00, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

- ah ok sure. If I may ask, I was wondering if you can translate "Village in China", Village inIndonesia" and "Commune in Morrocco". Im gonna update wikidata soon. Thanks. 70.21.184.216 16:07, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Not sure about the word "commune". That's not going to be found in any Navajo dictionary. An educated native speaker would probably think of something better.
- Tsiiʼyishbizhí Dineʼé Bikéyahdi kin dah shijaaʼ (village in China), Kéyah Dah Ndaaʼeełí Łánídi kin dah shijaaʼ (village in Indonesia), Eʼeʼaahjí Ghą́ą́ʼaskʼidii Biłikahii Bikéyahdi kintah ałchʼoniiʼní (commune in Morocco). Stephen G. Brown (talk) 01:38, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
The TWUG on space.wmflabs.org
[edit]Hello Stephen G. Brown
A few months ago, WMF opened a new discussion space. Since our user group has some difficulties to communicate (not everyone sees the messages that are posted on Talk:Wiktionary/Tremendous_Wiktionary_User_Group), I asked for a dedicated forum for the TWUG to be opened. It's happening here (there is no topic so far).
From now on, I invite you to follow the category to be informed as soon as a new topic is created. Pamputt (talk) 19:01, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Invitation to affiliate members to complete a survey about WMF wide Universal Code of Conduct
[edit]Hello; My name is Mervat, and I am helping the Trust and Safety team to reach out to affiliates in order to discuss the Universal Code of Conduct.
There has been talks about the need for a global set of conduct rules in different communities over time, and finally, Wikimedia Foundation Board announced a Community Culture Statement, enacting new standards to address harassment and promote inclusivity across projects.Since the universal code of conduct that will be a binding minimum set of standards across all Wikimedia projects, will apply to all of us, staff and volunteers alike, all around the globe, and will impact our work as groups, individuals and projects, it’s of great importance that we all participate in expressing our opinions and thoughts about UCoC, its nature, what we think it should cover or include and what it shouldn’t include; how it may develop, drawback or help our groups. This is the time to talk about it. As you are a valuable contributor to the Wikimedia movement, your voice counts. Before starting to draft the code of conduct, we would like to hear from you; We invite you to devote some minutes to take this survey; your answers will help us create a safer environment for all on Wikimedia:
It’s possible that you are a member of more than one affiliate; hence you may receive this survey more than once, and you may have participated previously in the discussions or filled out a previous survey during the first round of consultations about UCoC which targeted wikipedia/wikimedia communities. We apologize for this; it is really difficult to identify if a wikimedian belongs to multiple groups that work to spread free knowledge. Looking forward to your thoughts and opinions and hoping that you can respond within the next 2 weeks. If you have any questions about the surveys or difficulties accessing the link, please contact me by email (msalman-ctr@wikimedia.org)Results will be considered during the drafting process for the UCoCThank you for your participation
