Thanks for the heads-up. The portal's images are all hosted on Commons, but unfortunately the administrators there keep deleting our 35-pixel images as "duplicates" of the full-size project logos, forcing us to use the thumbnails MediaWiki generates from the full-size images. MediaWiki is quite fast at generating thumbnails, but at the cost of larger file sizes. As a test, I've reuploaded the Wiktionary logo at 35 pixels with an explicit note about needing to save bandwidth.
