Add topicQuestion about blocking a user at arzwiki
[edit]Hello Redaking, Can you please explain why you blocked كريم رائد for a year from the Egyptian Arabic Wikipedia? Especially since the reason for the block, as stated in the logs (here), is that you blocked him for an edit he made on Wikidata; "Vandalism: Changing more than once in Ahmed Adawiya's item from Egyptian Arabic to Arabic on Wikidata, without responding to my comment on the talk page or explaining the reason for the change.". It appears that there was an editorial war on Wikidata, not the Egyptian Arabic Wikipedia, in Ahmad Adaweyyah (Q593636). Also, is a one-year block in line with arzwiki block policy? What do other sysops think about the issue (HitomiAkane, Ghaly, Raafat and Meno25)? Thank you --Alaa :)..! 12:15, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, @علاء, for bringing it up. I would like to clarify that I already responded to his message at Wikidata and explained why I had reverted his edit, contrary to his block reason. Also, there were ONLY TWO REVERTS by me (the first because he changed it to a language that has no relationship to the topic. Regarding the second one, I did self-revert and explained why I did so before blocking, although he removed Arabic from the item). كريم رائد (talk) 13:10, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Redaking@علاء@كريم رائد, Good day everyone, please refer to the discussion here, thank you. HitomiAkane (talk) 15:12, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- Dear Colleagues
Many thanks for including me in this discussion. It appears there is a disagreement between the two users, and I am unsure whether this block has been discussed on the Wikipedia Masry community page. Given that the user has reverted their own edit, I would assume good faith. A one-year block would require justification and discussion unless the issue is very clear. If the other sysops are in agreement, I would be happy to lift the block. For future reference, would it be better to discuss these matters on the WM community page first? --Ghaly (talk) 15:56, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
