Wikidata primary sources tool: call for support
[edit]Dear @Pintoch:
You are listed as a WikiCite 2016 attendee: it was nice to meet you in Berlin, I really enjoyed the event.
Remember work group 4, StrepHit and the Wikidata primary sources tool? I just wanted to let you know that the StrepHit team is requesting a renewal to give the tool a boost.
Do you think the tool needs an uplift? If so, please consider an endorsement of the StrepHit IEG renewal through the following link:
m:Grants:IEG/StrepHit:_Wikidata_Statements_Validation_via_References/Renewal#Endorsements
Feel also free to comment the work plan in the renewal talk page: your thoughts are precious.
Thanks a lot for your time, looking forward to your feedback.
Cheers,
--Hjfocs (talk) 15:11, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
Nice to meet you; OII links
[edit]Nice to meet you Pintoch. Oxford Internet Institute events are listed here: https://www.oii.ox.ac.uk/events/. If you sign up for at least one event via EventBrite, you'll get onto the events mailing list.
It didn't occur to me to collect your email address - feel free to track me down further via Twitter and my personal URL listed there: https://twitter.com/argotechnica. See you next time! Argotechnica (talk) 18:25, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Argotechnica, thanks for the link! Sorry for not replying earlier, I rarely go on meta. See you at the next meetup! − Pintoch (talk) 22:26, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Nice to meet you!
[edit]Also here was the phab ticket where I've recently discussed the raw citation -> template problem before: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T179123. Please comment if you have any additional insight.
I think writing a Node.js library for it might be a nice little project- possibly could be a GSoC/Outreachy project. Mvolz (talk) 16:07, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Mvolz: thanks a lot! I have chimed in there to mention the parsing tool I was aware of. Also, the OA tool I used Zotero for is available here: https://tools.wmflabs.org/oabot/ . See you soon at OpenCon Oxford! − Pintoch (talk) 10:07, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
Oxford 58
[edit]Hi, did you create Meetup/Oxford/58? I was deliberately holding back on that because I was not sure that the date was available for me. In fact, it turns out that the date might be difficult because I have been put on the rota from 10:00 until 20:00 (ten hours) on Sunday 18 February 2018, so I was going to ask around to see if another date would be convenient. I have started Talk:Meetup/Oxford/58#Date of meetup on this matter. --Redrose64 (talk; at English Wikipedia) 23:07, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Redrose64 - yes sorry about that! I was proposing to some people to join us so I had to give them the link to the page (otherwise it would have been awkward to give them a page to a previous meetup). I was also away from my account so this is why I had to create it as an IP. I will reply there about the date. − Pintoch (talk) 23:14, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
International Women's Day Editathon
[edit]Just a reminder that the International Women's Day Editathon at the Oxfordshire County Library is tomorrow. Hope to see you there!

Societies with OA journals
[edit]From https://cyber.harvard.edu/hoap/Societies_and_Open_Access_Research via [1]: can we import the catalog of Society Publishers with Open Access Journals into Wikidata? I mean the two statements "X is an OA journal" and "X belongs to a society". I think most journals and many societies are already in Wikidata, so I suppose the biggest difficulty is the deduplication of the name column. This would be a good little project for me to learn OpenRefine+Wikidata editing, but only if nobody else is doing it already. :) --Nemo 13:45, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Nemo bis: hey, that's a great idea! I am not aware of anyone doing that at the moment so just go ahead! I'd be happy to help with any OpenRefine issues :) − Pintoch (talk) 13:48, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
- Alright! I'll first ask the maintainers and DOAJ whether that's the most up to date version of the data. --Nemo 14:08, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Nemo bis: Ah if it's DOAJ data then be aware of this stalled import by John Cummings: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Dataset_Imports/Directory_of_Open_Access_Journals − Pintoch (talk) 14:10, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for your Wikidata/OpenRefine tutorials
[edit]Great stuff and have been very helpful for me. Thank you! —Todrobbins (talk) 15:42, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Todrobbins: awesome, that is very nice to read, thanks! − Pintoch (talk) 15:44, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
Notification about a grant request
[edit]Hi.
As someone who commented about my grant request (including the talk page) last year requesting funding to create the GlobalWatchlist extension, I thought you might want to know that I have requested another grant to continue development. You can see the new request at Grants:Project/DannyS712/Continued work on GlobalWatchlist extension - if you support this, I hope you'll consider endorsing the request.
My apologies if you were already aware of the new grant request (I sent a similar message to the subscribers of User:DannyS712/Global watchlist/Updates - sorry for any duplicates).
Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 00:43, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Hello and thanks for being an unvoluntary guinea pig!
[edit]Hello!
You probably already knew this, but let me confirm: you are a true pioneer, one of the first people to sign up for news about OpenRefine and Structured Data on Commons. Thanks for being here from the start; we'll certainly keep you in the loop! -- Sandra (talk)

Short survey for SDC features in OpenRefine
[edit]OpenRefine is running a short survey to learn about user needs and expectations for its new SDC features. If you upload files to Wikimedia Commons and/or edit structured data there, please help by filling in this survey!
Monthly OpenRefine and Wikimedia office hours
[edit]OpenRefine's community meetup of February 22 was very well attended. You can see its recording, slides and notes here. The team now hosts monthly, informal office hours for Wikimedians (online, via Zoom). Upcoming office hours are:
