Please note that I have renamed my account to nixeagle from Eagle 101.

[edit]

I couldn't find you in JIRA :( Can you expand this tool to search all wikis with the following options?

  • all languages of a certain project (including the top # option currently available)
  • all projects of a certain language (including the top # option)
  • all languages of all projects (which will of course be slow)
  • specify only certain wikis -- just have a text field where users can specify wikis, one per line like language.wiki (or maybe by database name)

SpamReportBot

[edit]

I've flagged the account as a bot. Please consider asking the community before running a bot without a flag. I've also left a note here, where you may like to comment. Thanks. Majorly (talk) 21:58, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here - you blacklisted it in Feb 07 & did not log it - no idea what the rationale was. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 08:42, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Can you take a look at this. If a bot reported site is bl'd the req page becomes uneditable (this post too). --Herby talk thyme 07:18, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks & appreciated. As to what is "best" I think you probably know more than me! Me - I'd probably clear the template but so long as we get around it that is fine - cheers --Herby talk thyme 14:32, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Same as elsewhere if I read you right :) --Herby talk thyme 14:39, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
The problem is the item on the blacklist: \b.*\.thecosplayworld\.com\b triggers wrong things, it should be \bthecosplayworld\.com\b .. moreover, the current regex does not blacklist http://cosplayworld\.com (QED). --Beetstra 15:11, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I see those, fixed, and I've let werdna know :) —— nixeagle 15:29, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks to you both - with hindsight I thought the regex was "unusual" but decided he knew more than me as a "dev", cheers --Herby talk thyme 15:41, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

template:linkStatus

[edit]

I think there should be a status of "duplication": [1] Hillgentleman 00:37, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can we also add "deferred" which would take an additional parameter (an integer, for number of days or a date in some standard format) so the bot will temp archive it, and bring it back after the delay? – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 17:28, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

huh

[edit]
  • And we really need to get the old data in the database .. there is a lot of data missing, and sometimes we miss older spam attempts, and decide not to blacklist because it is 'not too bad'. --Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 11:01, 21 April 2008 (UTC) Working on that, is going to take a long time, as I am both parsing and making some new fields. The data is now in a new table, 'linkwatcher_newlinklog', please use that one for SpamReportBot. Uffa .. I have to throtle this, this is going to take long. But well, then we have everything in a new database. I have added two fields, 'resolved' (for the IP of the domain), and 'ip' (0 for logged in editors, 1 for IP editors). I am also stripping/regenerating the domain and indexedlink fields. Hope to see you back soon, the blacklisters can use some more work from SpamReportBot. --Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 10:38, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Could you add [http://resolvedIP resolvedIP] and [[Special:Linksearch/resolvedIP]] to the link-reports, it makes it easier to find reports on the same server. You might want to leave out the {{LinkSummary}} for the resolved IP, as it gets picked up by COIBot, and that gives a hellofalot of extra data sometimes (especially when you pick up blogspot ..). Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 13:39, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • And more. I think it would be useful to have the usernames as wikilinks in the reports. The users don't have to exist on meta, but then the different reports for the same user can be found via a 'whatlinkshere' on the username; there have now been a couple of reports on one user, and there this would have been very handy. --Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 10:44, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • I am on holiday from Friday for 2 weeks, I may be on/offline sometime. I am not making big changes to the bots for now, but they have sometimes tendencies to hang .. please restart the bots when that happens. I know you don't like to restart buggy bots .. but they tend to run stable for days, and then suddenly something goes wrong (hickups in connections or so which are difficult to catch e.g.). Also if COIToolBot does not save reports for a long time (longer than half an hour), then it may hang on a SQL query, also then please kill the bot, and start it again. When there are serious problems, could you then save a nohup.out or two so I can analyse what the real problem is. Also, sometimes the bots pick up bad monitor-rules which have to be removed (sometimes directly in the SQL database) as they can make life very difficult. See you around! --Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 15:50, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

#wikipedia-spam-t

[edit]

Could this please be renamed to #wikimedia-spam-t to better reflect what actually happens there? Wikipedia already has it's own anti-spam channel elsewhere, if memory serves.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 23:12, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not exactly, this is the, originally, english spam channel .. We could do with a move to '#cvn-sw-spam-t' --Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 14:19, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well if #wikipedia-spam-t isn't the venue for coordination of cross-wiki anti-spam efforts (as close to quoting the channel topic as I can do from memory!) then we should make one at #wikimedia-spam-t. (Perhaps have #cvn-sw-spam-t redirect there since that should technically be the location, but it is a silly name for any channel)  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 17:09, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Did this one die? Do we know if all it's functionality is covered adequately by COIBot?  — Mike.lifeguard | talk 16:54, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Spamsearch

[edit]

Hi, just now spamsearch didn't find some existing links to disfrutamallorca.es. Based on EdBever's comments the same is true for barradatijuca.com.br. I used tools:~erwin85/xwiki.php to check the reports and that tool did find some links, so it's not caused by replag. Could you look into it? Thanks, Erwin(85) 18:38, 25 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you!

[edit]

Thanks for fixing the crosswiki external link tool. I have left you a question, at the Forum, though. -- Thekohser 18:06, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
