The Affiliate-selected Board seats process welcomes your support
[edit]Hello. You are receiving this message because you are active in the field of translations <3 The movement needs you! The Nominations phase has started for the ongoing selection process of two Board members, and the timeline is quite tight.
A Translation Central is available to help translators figure out what's been covered and what's left to do. Over the course of the next few weeks, your attention on candidates' profiles is particularly welcome.
While there are four languages that are especially relevant for multiple affiliates (namely Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish), we are asking your help for Chinese, Ukrainian, Bengali, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Polish, Farsi, German, Cantonese, Finnish, Hindi, Thai, Dutch, and Greek, as these also matter to affiliates! If you can't help: please see if you know anyone in your circle who could, and spread the word :) Thank you! Elitre (WMF) and Facilitators of ASBS 2019, 21:35, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your participation in the WikiGap Challenge!
[edit]Hi!
Now, we have finalized the results from the WikiGap Challenge. You can find the general and top results here. I want to thank you for your contribution, which together with the other participants have created a tremendous and long lasting impact for the visibility of women on Wikipedia.
We want to give you a barnstar for your participation, to praise your efforts for a better visibility of women on Wikipedia!
We will analyze the challenge and the way it works closely, to see how we can improve it for next year. It would be very valuable for us if you wanted to share your views on the challenge, especially when it comes to: the point system, the focus, and the adding of the list from UN Human Rights. You can send your answers to eric.luth@wikimedia.se!
I hope you found the challenge exciting, and that you want to participate next year as well!
Best, Eric Luth (WMSE) (talk) 11:59, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

- Hello~I cannot find the Greek Wikipedia Asian Month 2020 Fountain pages. Could you help me?--KOKUYO (talk) 18:11, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
@KOKUYO: Regarding the translation, the translation menu doesn't shows that there is something untranslated. The messages of 2019 are also valid for 2020. I also made the Fountain page for WAM 2020, however the page is the page is not appearing right now. NikosLikomitros (talk) 20:42, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- @MARKELLOS:We found that some Fountain pages cannot be displayed properly (like Georgian Wikipedia), and contacted Le Loi (the tool developer) for this question. He says these pages haven't been created or approved yet.
- The Greek Wikipedia Asian Month Fountain pages need admin (from Greek Wikipedia) to go to their profile (chick their name at top of the page), select "approval" and approve the editahon. (like this) This change is to prevent creation of vandal editahon with attacks in the title.
- I hope this information will help you. If you have any question, please tell me. --KOKUYO (talk) 09:23, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

CEE Spring 2021: Thanks for your contribution about Ukraine!
[edit]Hi!
I'm writing to express sincere thanks for your contribution to articles about Ukraine during the CEE Spring 2021 article contest.
According to Wikimedia Ukraine's analysis, you were among the top 20 authors who made the most productive contribution about Ukraine across all language editions. Overall, almost 130 people wrote over 640 articles about Ukraine during the contest.
We really appreciate your time and effort for developing free knowledge, and we hope you'll keep joining CEE Spring and other similar campaigns in the future to increase coverage of Ukraine and other topics.
You can read more about the results of our push to increase coverage of Ukraine within CEE Spring at the link. —AntonProtsiuk (WMUA) (talk) 16:28, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
What is the orthography of Tiv in Nigeria?
[edit]I have noticed that last year you suggested Tiv Wikipedia be launched. However, I did not find any description on the orthography of the Tiv language in English Wikipedia. I hope that you can add the related information to English Wikipedia. John Smith Ri (talk) 05:41, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- @John Smith Ri Hello, sorry for the very late response. I was based in English Wikipedia's "dzwa Tiv", but the main problem is that generally Tiv is virtually absent from the internet, something which makes the finding of these information a bit difficult. Queering Wikipedia 2023 conference
[edit]Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group and the organizing team of Queering Wikipedia is delivering the Queering Wikipedia 2023 Conference for LGBT+ Wikimedians and allies, as a hybrid, bilingual and trans-local event. It is online on 12, 14 and 17 May, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia #IDAHOBIT, with offline events at around 10 locations on 5 continents in the 5-day span as QW2023 Nodes.
The online program is delivered as a series of keynotes, panels, presentations, workshops, lightning talks and creative interventions, starting on Friday noon (UTC) with the first keynote of Dr Nishant Shah entitled: I spy, with my little AI — Wikiway as a means to disrupt the ‘dirty queer’ impulses of emergent AI platforms. Second keynote is at Sunday’s closure by Esra’a Al Shafei, Wikimedia Foundation’s Board of Trustees vice chair, entitled: Digital Public Spaces for Queer Communities.
If you have been an active Wikimedian or enthusiast, supporting LGBT+ activities or if you identify as part of the larger LGBT+ community and allies in Wikimedia, please join us in advancing this thematic work. We encourage you to join online or in person with fellow Wikimedians if it is easy and safe to do so. Our working languages are English and Spanish, with possible local language support at sites of Nodes.
Registration for the online event is free and is open until Wednesday May 10th at 18:00 UTC, for safety protocol. Late event registration approval and event access denial is at the discretion of organizers.
More information, and registration details, may be found on Meta at QW2023
Thanks, from Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:56, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
Wikimedia CEE Spring 2024
[edit]NikosLikomitros Hello! I saw you in the international organizing committee of the competition and wanted to ask you to bring up for consideration in the organizing committee the idea of expanding the number of articles by language: I propose 100 biographical articles and 100 thematic articles for each language, such a volume of the proposed articles will reveal much more the palette of personalities and topics of each nation . 100 in total is not enough.--Yasnodark (talk) 12:48, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Yasnodark Yes, recently I have been well involved in CEE things. 100 articles are the main suggestion for years, however countries are free to expand the list as they are wishing by including several more articles. However, I agree that 100 articles are not enough, and that the average suggestion should be greater, around 150 articles, so that a better offering is done particularly for those who rely on lists. I will refer your feedback to the team and will respond. NikosLikomitros (talk) 13:50, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
- NikosLikomitros Hello! Thank you for the answer and the 150 proposed articles will also be a positive shift, but it was still desirable to first offer my previous option: 200 articles in total, of which 100 are biographical and 100 thematic. Instead, your option could become a compromise in case part of the orgcom does not agree with the first proposal.--Yasnodark (talk) 14:23, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
About Wikimedia CEE Meeting 2024 Programme Committee
[edit]Dear Nikos,
Thank you for showing interest in the work of the WMCEEM24 program committee. The organizing committee did an extensive job selecting future committee members, as it wasn't an easy task where each candidate had a strong background. After the final check, the organizing committee decided on four members instead of the required three members, which is the absolute maximum for a program committee. And you will agree that this is also the maximum from the seven candidates.
Unfortunately, you were not selected for the program committee, but we hope you will submit your candidacy for membership in future years. I also hope to see you this year at the conference in Istanbul.
Thank you for your input, and good luck. On behalf of the organizing committee, --– Mehman (WMGE) 19:50, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Mehman (WMGE) Thank you for your information. I am pleased to see Marios, a fellow scholar this year, being selected. This is probably the first time that a Greek is serving a role in CEE meeting organisers. NikosLikomitros (talk) 19:56, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
