WM DK
[edit]Jeg har læst at du deltager universitetet i Århus. Har du set den nye danske afdeling for WMF, Wikimedia Danmark? Måske det vil være interessant for dig. Mike Halterman 08:22, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Tak for informationen! Jeg vil måske kigge igennem mulighederne at blive aktiv der. Mikael Häggström 11:00, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for your interest in Wikimedia Medicine. We hope to create a non profit corporation to promote the aims of the Wikimedia Movement within the topic domain of medicine. This means we plan to promote the creation and release of "health care information in all languages" under an open license. This will be done primarily via speaking and collaborating with both individuals and organizations who share our goal. We are working on a number of collaborations already and are open to more ideas. - I am sure you know most of this already though :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 09:39, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- Indeed it's a great idea, and I'm sure this organization will be of great use in improving the sharing of knowledge. Mikael Häggström (talk) 07:20, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
The Stethoscope: A Wiki Project Med Foundation Review (Issue 1)
[edit]Wiki Project Med Foundation (WPMEDF) was formally incorporated in New York as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our mission is bold like Wikipedia's: Imagine a world in which every single person is given free access to the sum of all medical knowledge." That's what we're doing.
In this newsletter:
- Designing our logos and name: How and why we made them
- Creating Our Board: Who's involved and what they're doing
- Adding 70+ Interested members: Participants from all over the globe
- Furthering ongoing projects: Expanding exciting in many directions at once
- Proposing Wikimania presentations: Sign up for the talks that interest you
- Taking on on social media: Up and running with outreach (plus business cards!)
- Charting pathways for how you can help right now: a great list easy and important areas to contribute
We aim to run The Stethoscope at least once per quarter and no more than once per month. We only send to people who already signed on as WikiProject Med or Wiki Project Medicine Foundation interested members/participants. If you do not want to receive the newsletter, please add your name here.
It's been a pleasure so far, and we have so much more to do. Wishing you happy Spring up North and pleasant Autumn down South.

How does one get a meta-wiki project started?
[edit]Hi, it's me! My class and I were wondering about a page like Wikijournal that would be devoted to either Miraheze in particular, or the general idea of a private wikifarm dedicated to academic work. My guess is that it would occupy the namespace Miraheze on this wiki. It has ramifications for WikiJournal because it promotes the writing and collaborating of articles in wikitext before a decision is made as to where to publish. But I am more interested in the idea of students routinely doing their homework and term papers in a private space where eventual publication in student journals would be easily accomplished.
In particular, I want to ensure that the non-profit, open-source, and free-of-charge private wikifarm Miraheze either (a) thrives, or (b) gets replaced by something better.--Guy vandegrift (talk) 17:29, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
- Hi! It would indeed be beneficial. It may be difficult to propose a private wiki, since it's rather different from the openness that these projects value. Yet, an "embassy page" for an external project such as Miraheze can help getting people involved. Mikael Häggström (talk) 18:33, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Video conversion
[edit]Hi Mikael, I'm John from Wikimedia UK. I saw your proposal for file conversion to open file formats fromt he Community Wishlist last year. I was wondering if you could tell me whether anything has come out of the proposal? I'm quite interested in how Wikimedia projects could use video better so I'd like to find out what's going on with the work on improving video on Commons. --Jwslubbock (talk) 17:17, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Jwslubbock. I'm glad you also find interest in this issue! I saw lots of supporting comments on the proposal page, but haven't heard of any actual progress in the matter. Mikael Häggström (talk) 18:04, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- I don't suppose you would like to help me write something about it for our Wikimedia UK blog? We get a few thousand views for every post, so maybe it would be one way to restart the conversation about what to do about Wikimedia's video file type issue. If you're interested I'll give you my email. --Jwslubbock (talk) 11:52, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- Jwslubbock, I'm sorry I don't have the time to keep working on this issue, but I hope the blog post will help in the matter! Mikael Häggström (talk) 14:36, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- I can't really do a blogpost about this without help from people who know more than I do. Oh well, nevermind.--Jwslubbock (talk) 16:20, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

JSTOR account redistribution (The Wikipedia Library)
[edit]Hi - according to our records you received a free account for JSTOR through The Wikipedia Library. Because we’ve used up all of our allocated accounts, and it’s been some time since they were distributed, we want to redistribute any accounts that aren’t being used to users on our waitlist.
If you’re still using, or plan to use, your JSTOR access, no problem! Simply head over to the Library Card platform, log in, and request a renewal of your account. You should be able to do this from your user page, or the JSTOR signup page. If you can’t find the renewal button, or have any other issues or questions about this, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page. We’ll begin redistributing inactive accounts in September; if you request renewal after then we will only be able to reactivate your account if we have spots remaining. Thanks, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:32, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Hi,
You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.
You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
