renaming Les Sans PagEs Gabon into LSPGabon

Hi MdsShakil, you just renamed Les Sans PagEs Gabon in LSPGabon on the francophone wikipedia Diff. We complained about using a name linked to the user group les sans pagEs that is in no way linked to the project which is a registered affiliate of the wikimedia foundation (les sans pagEs) with clear processes and reporting. We asked them to rename their account choosing a pseudo that would not be confusing and offered to set up a sub les sans pages project page instead and a free online training session on how to do this.

LSP is also an abbreviation of les sans pagEs. I proposed to have an online meeting with them to explain how the group works (we do have collaborative established rules) and in the meantime, I would like them to choose a name which is not linked to les sans pagEs in any way to avoid confusion and letting people think they are representing les sans pagEs officially which is not true at the moment of this post.

I hope this will be resolved and that we can clear any misunderstanding with this new contributor in the future.

Can you do something to help them choose a name which is not linked to les sans pagEs ?

@Nattes à chat 1st of all, please note that forces renameing is not acceptable per as the policy, i understood your concerns but i also don't think that this username violates username policy, Normally official accounts are formed as (WMF)/(WMDE)/(...). For an example BTS means Bangtan Boys, it also means Behind the scenes, so LSP can be same as explained in many ways. After all i am unable to doing anything without the account owner permissions. Is there a 'renaming limit'?

Hello, is there a renaming limit on Wikimedia Foundation projects? If so, why? Is there a technical problem that prevents further renames? Can you be renamed 2 times if you have already been renamed? Well that makes sense. Why would you not allow a good editor to change his / her's username? I would like to ask 2 more questions regarding global name changes if that's fine with you.

Question 1: How do global renamers deal with editors who attempt to evade blocks? What happens if an editor who vandalizes, does edit wars with other editors, etc. attempts to trick admins into giving them a "clean slate" and letting them move on with their bad activities? I am not shaming anyone who decides to move on from mistakes, I am just giving a sample situation.

Question 2: What does 'valid reasons' mean? Does that include not liking the current username you have, distancing from bad mistakes, or other reasons? Thank you for answering my questions. Spodle (talk) 08:04, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

@Spodle Tis things are done to protect global renaming abuse.

Ans 1. if renamers know those things, then their rename request is normally declined.

IP on SRUC

Hi, When requestee fails to login with account, they sometimes make request with their IP without knowing that they are editing logged out. Ask for Rename.

Hello. I want to ask that I want to change my username to V, but when I check CA, V has 8 accounts on Wikimedia projects, of which the account owner "V" has just over 600 edits on enwikiquote and has been blocked indefinitely from 2010 for using sockpuppets, so can I usurp this username? @Vanhdeeptryy Per standard procedure, accounts with valid edits are not usurped and target account has valid edits. We do not normally usurp blocked accounts and since this is a CU block, it is unlikely to happen in this case. So you may not get this name. —MdsShakil (talk) 15:36, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
